GM extendable towing mirrors

When you get this option on an LT it is actually a "credit" for something like ? because you give up the heated power assist mirrors.  I used mine today for the first time and they were great.  No vibration etc...

I don't miss the power option too much because I alwys set the mirrors and leave them alone anyways.  And I don't know what heated mirrors would've been like, but I never need them before.  (Kinda like the goofy electric rear window defroster in my truck)

If you're going to tow, then these mirrors are what you need...

nice to hear that the new towing mirrors work well. i personally like electric mirrors, on long trips i get tired and move around in my seat a lot and it makes it easy to always have the mirrors set right.. but i also have crap for towng mirrors. still cant not find a good set of them anywhere. it sucks.

Actually NeXus the towing mirrors are rather large and there is a small convex mirror built into the drivers side mirror as well.  My wife is 6-7 inches shorter than me and she doesn't adjust the mirrors when she drives the truck (which isn't very often).

I had the GM towing mirrors on my 99 2500 and they worked good towing my 8.5' wide car hauler but on my 01 2500HD I installed the Lucerix power towing mirrors, there is no comparison, much better view and the power option is reall nice when backing my 36' trailer.

you can see pictures of the mirrors on my web site at http://www.rtol.net/scornell/silverado.htm

the web site for the mirrors is http://www.automirrorsource.com/

maybe its just me i love power options always playing with my seat and mirrors. but i never had the option for the towing mirrors being i have a 95 not the new stuff (still not into the whole new body style)

The driver side mirror is OK, but the passenger side is pretty useless without some kind of convex section over there.  Huge blind spot.

I really wish GM would get the company that makes the Ford trailer tow mirrors to make something similar to them.  I could live without the power option, but the Ford mirrors are great.  Not that the GM trailer mirrors are that bad, they could just be better IMO.  But I'm sure they are much better then the heated/power mirrors on most GM trucks, because those are worthless for towing.

NO HEATED MIRROR FOR YOU!!!

And no power assist either...  But that is why I got the credit $.

Instead I have solid door mounted extendable mirrors that work great when I tow my camper!!!

Pretty cool HUH?
