Ok I just want to clarify. I have a 2002 Envoy SLT with the Bose 6 disc stereo. Its the new style Envoy. Heres my truckchrissenvoy12043py2.jpg

So I cannot upgrade to a GM OEM NAV head unit??? I just want to ask before I start tossing cash around. :chevy:

well bro i was going to suggest the delphi tnr 800 to you, but after looking at the specs online its for years 2003-2007. and im pretty sure it is because your year didnt have a double din size radio opening. it probably has a din and a half size opening. there fore these systems cannot fit in you vehicle. an aftermarket one moight fit your truck, but i havent tried it yet in one of those. i did do a 02 avalanche and had to modify a lot of the dash to make a double din fit. you just might be stuck with a fold out navigation in dash. but theyre not bad. more perks. and you can retain most all you factory equipment still with some extra adapters. steering control, bose system, onstar, message center. hope this helps!

My radio IS the new style double DIN. Its the same looking and sized radio they are putting in 2006 Envoys. :)

So I've heard because I have a 2002 that my data bus is different? Is this at least true?

Heres a picture of my radio:

Heres a picture of the GM NAV radio:

You can see they are the same size.

Ok Ive found out I have the NON LUX amp. I do not have an RPO code of Y91 in my glovebox.

So I bid on a GM OEM Navigation stereo out of a 2004 Trailblazer, part #15108421.... am I on the right track?

hmm. well im kind of stumped. yeah it looks like you do have a true double din after all. well the only problem at this point will be in whether or not the harness will be the same fit and shape as 03 and up models. also pin locations. for instance the power ground and accessory. if you have an accessory that is. most gm vehicles dont have an accessory wire behind the head unit. the only way to tell is to try and find a schmatic of your harness and the one that the unit you bid on is suppose to accept. i dont know how much you intend to pay or bid on that unit. you might want to try and call delphi on that tnr800. your picture looks identical to the one i installed in my dads 05 3500 dually. now. if all else fails, but you can get power and all but no sound to your new unit. you can, which i mentioned in a thread prior to this one, add external amps, bypassing your bose system completely. im not the best at all this OEM integration stuff with switching lux amp and non lux amp from this vehicle or that. but i do know a thing or two about NAVs and audio. like i said call delphi tomorrow. you can find this unit online for as little as about 1400. retails for about 2000. and it all depends on you year make model, lux or non lux etc etc. they desighned 4 different models for particular vehicle applications. so check it out. good luck!

Thanks guys for the responses. Here is a breakdown of what I've been told

GM Trucks (Sierra, etc) had the class 2 data bus STARTING 2003

GMT360's (Envoy, Trailblazer) had the class 2 data bus since inception first model year 2002

GM Cars had the class 2 data bus starting 2000 model year

Maybe this is the confusion since the majority of members here are owners of full size SUV's and Trucks vs. Envoys.

I went out last nite and took my BOSE 6 disc stereo out, it does have the same exact connections on the back as the GM OEM NAV head unit. :)

Just for the record - The "newer style" envoy (2002-present) has ALWAYS come with the double DIN stereos since the very 1st one rolled off the assembly line. It was NOT like the Yukon, whereas in 2002 they still had the old style steering wheel and 1.5 DIN stereo. GMT360's had the double DIN stereo and new steering wheel since day 1.

I beleive it would work, but if the nav has ever been plugged up it has learned code form another car. If this is the case you will need to connect a Tech2 and change the code or it will Theftlock. I'm not 100% on this but when we switch head units around for Carmax this happens everytime on Data bus GM's...

Well I got my NAV head unit and antenna for the GPS today and installed into my Envoy. It automatically fired up and showed "GMC" and Bose was underneath it (I had the BOSE 6 disc changer in there). However, as predicted it automatically popped up with "Theftlock Activated".

Tomorrow Im having a buddy with a TECH 2 (he's a GM Tech) program it for me. Will update then!
