the amazing stering shaft

hey guys, im taking the truck in agin for the 3rd time for stering shaft lube kit, this thing is about as lubed as they get. The truck also had what i thought was a slight miss after i installed the nitrous plugs but the awsome gm injector fush tool fixed that. anway i heard that someone had made a aftermarket shaft that was better i dont know if this is true but would like to know who.

ok kinda replying to my own post but just found out that flaming river sells a awsome steering shaft but you have to have about $400 to cure your problem

the dude at flaming river said that one employee has it on his hd and ruins his shaft every winter now with this new nickle plated shaft its never been beter..lol

but is that worth $400 or just $14 for the rest of the life of your truck?

I'd pay no more than $75 for a new shaft. I'll just lube once a year for the next 6-8 years that I (hope) to have my truck.

well hope is in sight, the new trucks went to rack and pinion vs recirculating ball so there is a whole new steering system

Yep, Mine has rack-and-pinion and I have to remove the shaft every so often to lube it.

yeah im sure since they redesigned something itll only get worse before it gets better. Seems to be the common trend with GM these day. you know i like GM but im almost worried to buy anything new these days

My sentiments exactly. I was very excited about the new Dodge Ram Mega cab truck until I found out about the A/C problems these trucks reportedly have. Just what I need here in Florida in summer.
