So what do yall think of all this hoopla over the Michael Richards tirade?

I like how the video (as seen on web) starts right as he ngoes off, so we don't know what the hecklers did or said to set him off.

i mean if a black guy told that joke it wouldnt be a problem, so they way i look at it is comedy is supposed to be blind to race, so i think whatever he said shouldnt be loooked at as his personal opinion, but as a joke - thats it and thats all

It's obvious he was coked up. Call me cracker all you want, I still won't call someone a nig*er.

There will be speculation as to what the hecklers were saying before the video rolled, but regardless what happened what he said was very unprofessional.

I agree with the above poster, I'd be surprised if some substance didn't play a role in that outburst. I think the guy just lost his S***. The crowd kind of laughed nervously at first, and then they realized he wasn't making a joke and something was wrong.

That being said, I heard some other comics give their take on morning talk shows. They pointed out (both white males if it matters) that when someone takes a jab at your ability and livelihood, they take the gloves off...If it’s a fat guy they make fun of the weight, if it’s an ugly woman (won't repeat their words)....and so on.

All in all, if you watch the entire video, it seems like after ten minutes of heckling, he simply lost his mind. This entire thing comes in pretty low on my list of crap I'll think about much this week.

(sorry...that was more long winded than intended, but just my 2 cents)

I've seen some of his standup and he's not that funny. From what I've read, the audience members were really heckling him about not being funny and he took in personally. Regardless, he shouldn't have used racial epithets.

It wasn't a joke, it was an agry tirade.

He flipped out for sure and said some moronic hateful things, but he didn't break any laws.

Of course it wasnt a joke. He was quite serious in what he said. However, i think the whol thing is being blown out of proportion. I love seinfeld - especially kramer. I think he is hilarious on the show. I've never seen his standup but apparently he isnt that good at it. Fine. But why go to a show of his and then talk crap about how un-funny he is? If you dont think hes funny, dont go to his show, its that simple. People who heckle like this deserve to be made fun of/embarrased/ heckled back, its only fair.

Now, with that said, i do feel he might have gone too far with this. Its hard to say because (as someone mentioned earlier) the video doesnt show what was said by the people in the crowd. Without knowing this, its pretty much all speculation. It sure doesnt help that the video clip conviently cuts out what the people in the crowd initally said and the media is blowing it up as well. Theres really nothing too newsworthy here if you ask me.
