All 4 on Bright

This is a little bit of an aftermarket question but one that should be answered by a tech.

On an 02 Silverado, if I was to take and ground the yellow (ground) wires on the dims ,alowing the dims stay on when the brights are activated, would the power wires / fuse box / relay (changing the fuses to 20A) be able to hold up to the additional load without melting and catching the vehical on fire?

With out at a wiring diagram it is hard to tell if the orange wires are 4 wires all the way or just part of the way.

I got a kit from www.mrtaillight.com I'm no genious. I could screw up wiring one wire to itself, and the kit from them was very easy, and only cost about $10.00

Maybe, maybe not. I'm sure GM has designed load carrying wires with a margin of safety, but a lot depends on the quality of the various terminals and connections. Saw one just this week where the main ground at the dimmer (multifunction) switch had melted out of the connector. This truck had those bright white headlamp bulbs. Did they draw enough extra current to cause this? They probably contributed to it on this particular truck. I've seen other trucks with these lights with no such problem. Perhaps the terminal for that ground on this truck just wasn't tight enough and the extra resistance, coupled with the extra load, caused the meltdown. Maybe it would have eventually melted down even without the aftermarket bulbs.

The four orange wires are two pairs. One pair supplies power from the RT HDLP fuse to the right high and low beams. The other pair supplies power to the left headlamps from the LT HDLP fuse. These wires come out of the UBEC and go directly to the light sockets. There are no connections in-between these two points.

Thanks for all the input. Im not afraid of wiring or soldering and could rewire the OEM harness but it would be cheaper (and easier) if I just bought that kit. I just dont trust the OEM wiring beond its original intent.
