Fuel contamination in oil

I have too much fuel contamination in my oil. The plugs are new, wires are new but I am just under 2% fuel in the oil analysis. The engine runs fine, and no obvious issues. I would not even know about this problem without the oil analysis.

Is all fuel and ignition controlled by the engine computer? I have a Westers Tune, and I am wondering if that is where I should start - or is there an ignition coil?

Too much short trip driving? Getting the oil good and hot burns off many contaminants. This is why in the past it was recommended to change the oil at shorter intervals if you did a lot of short trip type driving. Primarily it'd be water from condensation, but I imagine some fuel would get in there too. Gas is so volatile it should definitely dissipate if the oil gets up to operating temp and stays there long enough.

Not sure what the specs are on fuel in the oil. I would expect some sort of driveability issue if enough raw fuel was being dumped into the cylinders to cause a problem.

It is my understanding that it takes 20 minutes of driving after the engine reaches operating temp for the impurities to "burn off". You are correct, if he is making only short trips and the truck never or rarely sees highway driving it could easily have too much fuel in the oil.

The "tune" is the cause.

The only way fuel is getting in your oil is if it's not being burned. That's oil contamination, and also HC emissions. Get an emissions test, I'll bet you're off the end of the scale.
