What changes were made to the 6L to get the extra HP out of it???

I have looked around and can't seem to find any info as to what was really changed.

Anybody know???

Comparing the dyno curves between the previous LQ4 and the new LY6 it looks like it is only picking up some extra HP at the top end 4500RPM and updwards. That would explain the VV timing benefit. Torque curves look about the same unfortunately so its not really going to have much more low end grunt. The lower 1st gear on the 6L80E should help out though...

The new LY6 is based on the LQ9 found in the Silverado SS. Not based on the LQ4. They added VVT and AFM. Thats an increase from 345 HP to 367HP and 380 trq to 375 trq, they changed the intake manifold also thats why they shaved some torque off the motor. Thats how GM normally does it. They shave some torque for a little more HP so that they can say that they are HP leaders on the market, even though for pulling your most interested in torque.
