GM factory XM radio kit

I just got a Gm XM radio kit pt. # 12498768 for my 2005 GMC Sierra. I'm confused about removing pins A12 and B1. Are they on the back of the radio? and where do they go and how does the harness actually hook up? I'm having a blond experience. Will someone who has done this please explain in detail. I would appreciate it.

Thanks and have a great day,

Its been about a year since I did one of these installs so I had to think about it a little bit.

The pins you remove are in the factory harness thats in the truck now,you remove them and install them in the harness thats supplied in the XM radio kit.

If you look at the factory harness you will see on the connector that each "pin" is marked, you have to look real good though because there marked very, very small.

Now the next part is still kinda' hazy but if I recall correctly the factory harness then plugs into the harness thats supplied in the XM kit, then one end plugs into the back of the radio and one end plugs into the XM receiver unit behind the glovebox.

Again its been so long since I put one of these kits in that that last part about where the harnees goes I can't remember clearly,I tried bringing up the install instructions but couldn't find them anywhere,I did find this bulletin that might help you.....or it might confuse you even more...

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Step 10 of the dealer installation instructions directs the technician to disconnect the 12-way accessory connector from the back of the radio. The connector may not be present if the vehicle is not equipped with another accessory that needs the connection at the radio.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Plug the female 12-way connector into radio, disregard the male end and proceed to step 11.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Models:

(2003-05 GMC Yukon & Denali) and (2003-05 GMC Sierra) and (2003-05 Chevrolet Silverado) and (2003-05 Chevrolet Suburban) and (2003-05 Chevrolet Tahoe)

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
