2003 denali front shocks

truck riding terrible. looked at front shocks.

the shocks are made by Delphi.

there is a slight oil film on the shock, (which is normally OK)

but the lower control arm, and even the torsion bar are coated with the oil film, so it must of blew out all the oil.

and the way the truck is riding, no doubt it's bad.

 

the other side is BONE dry. The Delphi web site says their rated for 125,000 miles, but 60,000 miles did it in. these autoride shocks are very expensive.

 

did anyone try aftermarket shocks?

what exactly does this electical connection do for the autoride?

the GM shocks are like $300 each !!!

I was not aware the AutoRide affected the front shocks. I have KYB MonoMax on mine and love them but mine is not equipped with AutoRide. I could be wrong, but I do not believe you have any options except for the OE if you want to keep the AutoRide active.

The front shocks are the same as all the others. The Autoride only effects the rear shocks. I had 2 left front shocks on my Z71 blow seals in the first 20000 miles and then put on Bilstein HDs and have'nt had a problem since. I did have oil on the left front Bilstein at @ 50000mi but it turned out to be a defective 4x4 transfer case vent tube vent that is situated aboue the left front shock.

10-4 on keeping them stock, the 2003 has stability control and the shocks are a part of it. My 2002 SD and 2003 YD both have electric shocks.

what exactly does this electrical connection do for the autoride?

 

the computer can adjust the stiffness of the shock based on conditions.
