IPOD adapter for an '06 Silverado CC

Looking to see if any members with an '06 (non luxury Bose) have installed an IPOD adapter?

I've been doing a lot of searches and reading on a few boards and many have talked about problems w/many of the adapters out there.

Anyone here have any suggestions for a relaible IPOD adapter (non FM Modulated or bluetooth) that is relatively easy to install for a novice backyard mechanic wannabe?

Bob. I have a different stock radio, but that isn't an issue to your question. I bought the USA Spec one and I like it. The only issue I'm trying to get to the bottom of is if it is suppose to turn the ipod off. I want to store the ipod in my glove box... and I *DONT* want it to be on 24/7.

I also have a 06 Crew (LT model). It has 6 disc, XM, etc. and was just looking at this iPod Direct Connect Interface on eBay.

Has anyone tried this?

Also, I see this all the time, but was is a LUX version? Is that just the addition of the DVD Entertainment? I thought there was only one Bose system (7 speaker)... that's what I've got (I think)...

Pete please post when you get an answer to your question on how it turns the ipod off as I agree w/your concern.

I like the looks of that unit but it says it is for a 2007 and I'm not sure if it is interchangeable with the '06's?

The Bose luxury version is designated by the RPO code Y91 on your glovebox label, mine has the RSE (DVD) and is not a luxury version.

I can tell you for sure the Ipod adapter on Ebay will NOT work on 06 models. Only the new bodystyle...

i was just reading this post and thought i would tell you have i have. i have the same stereo the you have the 6cd, bose, xm, the works. well what i have is this, ipod2car it is very easy to install takes no time. the only thing is that it does not show up on the radio display. and it shuts off with the door opening and stays charged. and i can use my steering controls to change the songs and volume. to install it all you do is take off the dash piece , make sure you lower your steering wheel and move the shifter so you can get it off. then remove the three bolts that hold the radio in. remove the radio, the cables in back are short so pull easy to remove. then plug in the right adapter, it should have two wires that need to be tied in some where. you can do this on the other bigger harness by attaching the ground to the black wire and then the 12v to the larger orange wire using some wire t-tap splices, you can get both in a small pack at autozone, a few bucks. i hope this helps you out.
