How do you lower the spare tire

Recommended Posts

I can not get the seconder release on my spare tire to release so I can lower my spare tire. I went by the instructions in the hand book with no luck.

Anyone else tell me what I might be doing wrong?

Please help

you have to get the notch in there just right. make sure you are sticking the right end in there also. on one of my trucks the hoist was defective from the factory.

I probably made the same mistake first time. I inserted the wrong end of the rod in. Get your owner's manual and carefully read the directions and you will not have a problem. That's what I did. Of course, this was dry run for me, not an actual emergency. I wanted to make sure I know how to lower the spare tire.

My truck is a 2005 sierra 1500, the problem is that there is a seconder release on the spare tire that holds the tire up, this release has to be undone so the cable starts to come down. You are suppose to use your jack to push up on the sping holding the tire to release the tire so that it can be lowered, and for some reason i'm not able to get it to work, not one of GM's best ideas.

I can not get the tire to release and i have a flat tire and no way of getting my spare down.
