Ok, so I have a 2002 2500HD 4x4 LT. I am having a problem with my 4 wheel drive where the shift light on the dash blinks but doesn't shift out of 2wd. It will continue to blink untill I put it back in 2 wd. Also I can shift it into netural and it the Tcase will shift to that as wel.

I can hear the transfer case shift, and know it does becasue the front axle will start to spin when I put it in 4x4 but the front diff never engages. Someone said it could be the Front Shift Motor. Does this sound correct?

Thanks, I hope to fixed it before friday due to snow that we might get.

And yes I did search about it, but didn't find much.

This is not going to help much, but mine's (01 2500HD 8.1L) been doing the same thing for a long time now. The lights just flash, or don't shine at all and it takes an age to get it to change from 2H to 4H or 4L and then back again. My check transfer case message often comes up as well.

I read in another forum a couple of years ago that its a known problem and there was a relatively simple fix for it but 've never been able to find that forum again. Maybe we can get an answer on here. cheers

The lights stay on like they are supposed to but it will brink in 4-hi or 4-low. It doesn't even switch back to 2wd like it would if it cannot complete the shift.

Does any one know what fuses control this motor?

Thanks

Not to say "I told you so" but this is the MAIN reason I decided against the automatic/electric T-case and opted for the manual one.

I bet it is the electric servo or motor in the T-case.

Good luck.

My wife's trailblazer had this happen. It wouldn't go into 4wd...just blink and stay in 2wd. I pulled the fuse for it (located under rear passenger seat in her truck) and waited 5 mins and plugged back in. 4wd was fixed and never had a problem after that.

Best I can tell it got triggered when it was shifted into 4wd but the actuator never actually got the transfer case into 4wd (gears didn't align, truck wasn't in neutral, etc). Make sure you shift into 4wd while moving slowly (if the manual says you can) or stopped but in neutral, to prevent this from happening again.

The most common problem for a flashing lights on 4wd switch, and no shifting, is a faulty transfer case encoder motor postion sensor. Should be scanned at checked for codes, if has code C0327,have the the encoder sensor replaced.
