Header Noise !!

Thinking bout "Dynatech Headers with Cats" BUT - I've been in more than a few trucks with headers and they all sound "TINNY" or you KNOW they have headers.

If I buy these ($1400.00) headers should I have them powder coated or ceramic coated?? I don't need the world to know there are headers on my truck particularly inside the truck. Give me the horses but don't need the noise in the truck. (2001 5.3L Stepside Shortbed)

Truck will definitely sound different. Youll be able to hear it ticking away at idle due to the fact the header is running a lot thinner material. There is absolutely no reason to get them coated at all. What exhaust are you running??

I've got the Corsa Touring catback system. Touring is quieter.

Guess I'd better re-think this header thing. My friends 2002 when you stand next to the truck you can hear the TINNYoise and inside it's worse.

Ceramic coating is great on a mild steel header. I dont think its warranted on a stainless header though.

I've got the JBA shorties (yeah i know.... but i'm in CA) and ceramic coated. I don't know about a tinny sound, my truck sound way more Beefy (sp) than with the stock ones. I have the Magnaflow Dual rear exit exhaust too.

 

I heard and read that ceramic coating are supposed to bring down the under hood temps, but i've definitely noticed my under hood temps increase with the headers. I think that plate covering the stock headers made a significant difference regarding under hood temps. Just my experience.
