Magnaflow or Flowmaster?

Looking to get an exhaust system installed soon and wanted to get some opinons....I have had Flows on every other truck I've owned but have heard good things about Magnaflow recently and was courious if anyone has them on your truck? What you think about them vs say a 40 series Flowmaster? I like the Flowmaster sound but it sounds like everyone else. I went to my local muffler shop and he said he'd run true duel Magnaflows w/2.5 in pipe for $400. This 6.0L V-Max factory muffler is a 2 in 1 out design, so true duels is easy and would not require cutting off a y-pype or splitting since it's alrady separated. What do you think?

Another Magnaflow...do a search on here, there were lots of posts regarding differences in Magnaflow and Flowmaster...believe theres some clips as well.

+1

A Magnaflow vs. Flowmaster debate is almost as classic as a Chevy vs. Ford debate. People like them for different reasons. I had a Flowmaster put on mine and beforehand, the guys were very helpful in clamping on a couple of different mufflers and letting me run the truck to find out which I liked best. It's all a matter of personal taste. Do a search since there's ton's of information about both.

Both are great, it's personal preference. Mine has Magnaflow High Flow Cats which had a big impact on sound and the muffler is a Flowmaster 40 series

I have the MagnaFlow on my 05 Ext Cab and really like them a lot. I've been the custom route before and was disappointed with rust, seams leaking, etc. The quality on these cat-backs is awesome. Great sound, mellow, not loud. I've kept my spare tire in place with dual out the back 3" tips. Definately a cool sound and look.

I had a Flowmaster and it only lasted a year and a half before it was completely rusted out and had to be replaced. I switched to Magnaflow because they actually use stainless steel and it's been through one Maine winter now and still looks new. So, I'm a Mag fan, if I ever move to Florida, maybe I'll consider the Flowmaster again.

I dont mean to hijack the thread but J45, i saw the pictures of your truck, do you have ford keys or crank your t-bars? Truck looks nice.

Too the question at hand, I have both the flowmasters and mags. Flowmaster are cheaper but will rust out. Mags are expensive but look great with the polish finish and sound great too. If you wanna hear different types of exhaust, there is a thread floatin around that i made that has a bunch of exhaust clips. Search exhaust clips under this room.

Thanks for the compliment. Stock keys, cranked pretty much all the way up. Good for about 2".

Sound is extremely subjective so IMO sound clips and reality are always 2 different things - try to hear them in person both outside the vehicle and inside if possible when making your decision ... as mentioned earlier you won't go wrong with either muffler
