tractorsx Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I live in the N.W. corner of Colo. and can't find anybody that even knows what I'm talking about. Every time I install it after a short time I get a check engine light and a code for crank sensor relearn. I'm willing to travel anywhere in Co., Wy., Ut., to get this done by somebody that actually knows what it is. All the dealers around here only willing to do a reflash. I've had a W4M PCM for 6 months for my 8.1 and still can't use it, BOO HOO!!! Please help me. Thanks!!!!
95Sierra2500 Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 They can just do a crank position re-learn (aka a case learn), but if a dealer won't do it, try to find an independant shop that has access to a tech II and will actually do it, not a re-flash. Are you telling the dealers you put in an aftermarket PCM? If you are, that's why they want to do a re-flash.
ABQFirefighter Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 You don't want to do the re-flash on a custom PCM, you'll ruin the program. Try to find a independent shop with the Tech II as stated above. I never did the re-learn after I replaced mine and haven't had any problems.
Haulin' 8.1 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Also, a OTC Genesys scan tool will perform the test. That's what I use at my shop for it. Vernon
Mark_in_Tulsa Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 My local muffler shop did it for me. All they need is a OBD II tool. And it's pretty self explanatory from there. The guy who did mine had never done one before, and the tool just walked them right through it. Just make sure they hold the brake down. A lot of people get an error when they do it, because they don't know your suppose to hold the brake all the way down.
