Pinion angle?

I have a 99 silverado ext. cab 2wd. I have a McGaughys 2/4 spindle shackle/ hanger drop kit that I bought used. I see in some other kits you need to add a pinion shim. Is that needed when I do my drop? I have 20's w/ 285/50/20 tires on the truck already if that matters. Thanks for the help, I want to get this installed asap but do not want to hurt something.

Did you ever complete the installation? I would like to know if there were clearance problems with the 285's.

thanks.

how do you adjust the pinion angle? Im thinking of the same drop

You adjust the pinion angle by installing a wedge (tapered) between the

spring and the axle spring pad. They come in a variety of angles.

I have the McGaughys drop kit on my SS.............spindles, shackles and hangers. I have had no problems with drive-line vibration so far, and my kit has been on for over a year. I know alot of people were having issues with vibrations and had to use a shim to correct it. I lucked out, and didn't have to go that route.
