Factory Stereo Specs - 03 silverado

Here's my first post to this website.. Previous ford boy just bought an 03 silverado ext cab. Lovin' it so far!

So, of my first upgrades to the truck is the stereo. I'm adding 2-12" subs to the back seat. Haven't been too impressed with the stock speakers and am looking for replacement speakers. I was hoping to get info about the stock stereo RMS so I can find the properly matched door speakers. My stock stereo consists of just a cd player and I think the 4 speaker system, though I see the front door speakers look like component speakers. Any help on what the stereo is puttin' out would be greatly appreciated!

As far as the subs go I've been reading very different views on whether the subs are better facing up or down on the extended cab. Comments??

I put Infinity 6000cs component speakers in the front doors (6 1/2" & separate tweeter) and the Infinity 4x6 plate speakers in the back doors. They sound MUCH better than the stock speakers! Then I put two 8" subs in the back, upfiring in separate boxes, with a Pioneer amp (100w per channel I think? - just to the subs). It's an exellent sounding system, with just enough bass for me. Two 12's will definitely give you LOTS of thump!
