intake manifolds

hey i was wondering if anyone with 4.8s had problems with intake manifold gaskets wearing out. ive replaced them on a few 6 cyl cars and my dad said hes replaced them on 5.7 pickups and vans but i was wondering if anyone with a 4.8 had problems with it.

The intakes on these engines 4.8, 5.3, & 6.0 are dry systems. NO coolant flows through the intake at all. These engines are very well engineered, they are much better than the old designs!

Coincidently, I just had to have the intake gaskets replaced in my 2002 Silverado (5.3L) yesterday...

 

(I like the truck, but it's been one thing after another lately. A few months ago, it had a bad ignition switch. Last week, a new sun gear assembly in the transmission at 66,000 miles. This week, intake gaskets had to be replaced. I'm about one more repair away from dumping it.)

My second gasket has been leaking for some time on my 98 Tahoe 5.7L. First was replaced at about 60K and now am waiting for warmer weather to do it again.

I used to be a service tech at a GMC place back in the day, and ALL I did all day were intakes on the newer 6 cyl. motors in the Pontiac minivans and grand prix. Those sucked really bad, but I've only seen one 5.7 L truck that sprung a leak in my day, but it had about 207K mi. on it. The 4.8 and 5.3 L engines don't seem to have this problem.
