Jim - i'm eager to hear your feedback after the new i-shaft is installed. Scott (sbatzold) from another thread had his done, but hasn't reported back. Scott - did the I-shaft replacement work?

i am curious about this because there is a lot of talk about it. what is the specific problem? and how can you tell if your truck is doing it?

The problem is very obvious. There is an audible clunk or rattle that can also be felt in the wheel and floorboard. On my truck it only happens when going over bumps when driving around a corner.

The road i drive up every day as a long sweping right with bumps and i feel it every day. The first time they lubed it and it was great for about 12k now its back worse then before. I hope the new shaft fixes it. I will report back when i pick up the truck.

All they will do is keep re-greasing the old shaft under the warranty (it is not a safety issue)-I had to buy the new shaft and installed it myself--$69.00 for the part--Peace of Mind--Priceless

Is this a new updated shaft for the 07 new body style? $ 69? That's all? Seems suspiciously cheap for a durable product. Maybe it isn't so durable.

I don't know if it would fit an 07'--Different body style, so I doubt it--My dealer told me they came out with an updated shaft, so I bought it--I don't want to deal with re-greasing the old one every 10,000 miles or whatever--Plus I heard GM discontinued production of the re-greasing kit they used to sell--I have the new part number home, I will list it soon-

Here is a link to the discussion on the forum that has the TSB info for the new shaft. This new shaft came out recently, like within the last month or so.

the new shaft is in and no fet i can tell one trhing right off the bat. The steering feels WAY more precise then it ever has since the truck was new.

Time will tell if the clunk is fixed but i will know for sure in 3 months or so. I drive on a road every day that made it clunk like crazy after 10k, if it never does it again ill be happy.
