I have a 2006 Sierra and i want to know how to disable all the annoying warning chimes (seatbelt, washer fluid, etc) and the automatic locking doors. Can the dealership fix this how I want it?

10 years ago, this may have sounded like a really silly answer...But....Replace your radio with an aftermarket unit and don't install the module for the chimes.

There is a way to turn off the auto locking doors, but I forget how to do it. It is inside the manual, part of the personalization section. Look in the index. I dont think you can stop the chimes without replacing the radio, but you CAN turn the volume down, also in the manual.

Even on the "low" volume setting, you're risking hearing damage with these d**n chimes.

At least GMs don't have the stupid chimes that go off every couple of minutes on a F*rd if you're not wearing your seatbelt (I do a lot of driving around construction sites where I don't buckle up). That feature alone would keep me from considering buying one.

On my 05, you cannot disable the auto locking doors. You can only modify 'when' it locks. Annoying as hell.

As others have said, read the manual and it will tell you what features you can adjust or disable.

Doorlocks is in the manual under Driver's Information Center. You can set it to lock on shift or lock on speed, but they WILL lock. You can also set to manual unlock. You can also set feedback to off.

Just fasten the seatbelt befor you get in and sit on top of it.

For seatbelt chimes just unplug the connector that plugs in behind the driver seat.Put the seat all the way forward and you will see it.The plug has a plastic trim piece over it.

You wouldn't have a picture of that connector would you?

Or, do you remember what color the plastic connector is?

And, is it near the front, back, left side, right side of the seat?

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

SORRY.....On the 05 and up GMs you cannot shut off the chimes.

Only adjust if the volume is high or low !

And thanks to the FEDs the auto locks cannot be shut off either !

And note the 04 and up power window controls on ALL vehicles

you must pull the rocker UP to close the window !
