Got a call from my dealer - my 07 Crew Cab LTZ Z71 VortecMax should be in by next weekend - can't wait! Only problem will be figuring out how to get to the dealer 250 miles away without inconveniencing my family...

 

I'll post pics when I get it.

Yep,Its how I ordered mine also (It should be built anyday now) You can get it as a seperate option or as part of the "NHT" Max Trailering Pkg.

Here's the explaination from an earlier post of mine,Hopefully its not to confusing........

 

On the '07 "GMT900" 1/2-ton trucks you can get the "VortecMax" 6-liter (RPO L76) two ways,Either as a seperate option on the crew-cabs and ext.cabs (short or standard length bed) or its comes as part of the "Max Trailering Package" (RPO NHT) available on crew-cabs and ext.cab (standard length bed only)

When you spec it out as a seperate option you get the "L76" 6-liter along with the "M70" 4L70E "Super-Duty" transmission and the 9.5" rear-end with 3.73 rear-end gears and you can still get the Z71 package or the Z60 suspension with 20" wheels.

 

When you spec out the "NHT" Max Trailering Pkg. it also comes with "L76" 6-liter,"M70" 4L70E transmission and the 9.5" rear-end,but it also includes the "G80" locking diff. w/4.10 gears in the 4x4 models (3.73 gears in 2wd models) it also comes with the autotrac transfer case on 4wd models,fog lamps,"Z82" trailering pkg.,"Z85" handling/trailering suspension,H.D. rear springs and a bigger front sway bar,This package increases towing capacity up to 10,500lbs.

17" wheels are the only wheel size available with the "NHT" Max Pkg.

 

You'll notice the biggest difference between the two is the fact that with the "NHT" pkg. it comes with 4.10 gears in 4wd models,this is where they get the 10,500lb. towing capacity,If you get the 6-liter as a seperate option you can only get 3.73 gears which is limited to an 8,500lb. towing capacity.

 

Also on the rear-end,If you get a crew-cab it will have rear disc brakes because stabilitrak is standard on all crew-cab models,however on ext-cab models drum brakes are std. unless you order the stabilitrak option seperately or the "NHT" pkg. which includes stabilitrak as part of the pkg.

Yea,we already pull our hair out now,Thats just one reason why we usually ask for the VIN when ordering parts,theres just too many build variences. :flag:

Could someone please tell me what "NHT" stands for, I have been seeing it used around here but for all my thinking I cannot come up with the words. I know what the Max Trailering package is, just not the letters.

"NHT" is the RPO,or "Regular Production Option" code,used by the dealer to order that package,Just like "Z71" is an RPO code used to order the Off-Road Suspension Package option or "G80" used to order the Locking Rear Differential.

RPO codes is also what allows us parts guys to order correct parts,we can look at the "SPID",or "Service Parts Identification Label" to determine what all options and standard equipment is on a GM vehicle.

      Hey everyone, I recently had an issue with my 07 2500HD GMT900. My DRL’s stay on at all times. Right front turn and right mirror turn signal indicator stay on solid at all times. By “at all times” I mean the only way to make them go off is disconnecting the battery. I tore the headlight assemblies out, tried disconnecting the harnesses to eliminate bad wiring at the harness, I unplugged the headlight switch, no change and the mirror turn signal still stayed on. My first thoughts were : Bad bulb and/or socket somewhere, under hood fuse panel bad, bcm bad, tail light or trailer wiring problem, or some random short to power in the harness.  Possibly a bad ground but unlikely. I had a big clue in the fuse panel, it had a burnt smell. I started pulling every fuse that had to do with DRL or right turn/park lamp. Nothing made the right directional turn off but pulling the DRL2 fuse made the DRL’s go out.  After studying wiring diagrams, I found that both problems had that fuse panel in common, the bcm also controls both problems but knowing the fuse panel had a burnt smell I removed and disassembled the fuse panel and found a little corrosion on the printed circuit board.  I ordered a new fuse panel from Amazon for like $260. When it arrived I installed it, and put everything back together, the problem was fixed. I figured the fuse panel needed to be replaced anyway so that was a logical place to start. Hopefully this story helps someone in the future. Regretfully I didn’t scan for codes before I did everything.

      That stinks. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now with the same issue. Never had an issue before taking it in for the ground strap recall. Now I’m outside of warranty and they’ll probably want $200 just to diagnose what they already “fixed”.

If their vehicles can save 1–2% fuel by using a special fuel economy lubricant, then that OEM can drastically reduce the amount of fines they need to pay.”   I liked this and the following paragraph as well but it’s really only touching the beginning of the benefits OEMs see from spec’ing these oils. After you factor in “out of warranty” service work and new car sales when these engines fail before their time, it’s a good racket for them. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you!
