Transmission Shifting Funny

Hello Everyone,

 

I have a 2003 Tahoe Z71. I bought it used with 103K miles. I got such a good deal on the truck that even if I have to spend a couple thousand on the tranny, it is worth it.

 

The transmission doesn't seem to be shifting right. Even during a slow acceleration when shifting I notice the drop in RPM both in the engine and the tach, but there is a slight delay in actually feeling the shift (I would guess about half a second). It is more noticeable during moderate acceleration. The delay doesn't seem to change though. It doesn't seem to slip anywhere else. It pulls hard during hard acceleration. If I am running at steady speed then accelerate making the tranny downshift, there doesn't seem to be any slipping going on there either.

 

The truck has been meticulously serviced since new. I have seen several receipts for fluid services. The last time the tranny was flushed was at 93K. The fluid looks real good and doesn't smell burnt. To my knowledge, I don't think the pan has ever been dropped and the filter changed though. I think it has only had flushes since new. I was planning on dropping the pan and changing the filter to see what happens, but I would appreciate some input first.

Some of what you are feeling is probably the torque management in the PCM (computer). This can be removed with a custom tune...

Thanks for the replys. I am going to change the filter and see what happens. The other day I rode in a Yukon with 4WD very similar to my Tahoe. The transmission in the Yukon was shifting like I thought my Tahoe should. The shift was felt immediatley with the drop in rpm from the engine.
