posting again the noise has returned

I have a noise in my front end the best way I can describe it is a creaking sound very loud creaking sound it seems to be only when i brake I oiled the sway bar bushings and the nosie went away for three days then it came back. I then replaced the bushings and the noise is still there i dont know what else to do with this truck and the garage wants to replace the ball joint which is not making any other noises and really doesnt fell like there is much play in it any suggestions on what i can try before spending the money to replace the ball joint on the left side as i jsut replaced the right side and that didnt fix the problem

You may have to replace the ball joint. I always start with the least expensive , and work my way up. Sounds like the a-frame bushing, but you've obviously done that. It has to be in the suspension somewhere.

Just to be shure,check the hood latch,it is very common for the hood latch to creak if it's dry and rusty.

Have you checked the lower control arm bushings?,spray them with penetrating fluid and if the noise goes away then you will need to replace them.

found the noise after two new ball joints, sway bar links and bushings it is the bushings on the lower control arms. all i can say is what a lot of money to fix this prolem

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier, or I would have advised you get a new mechanic if a)your lube job fixed the problem temporarily but b)your mechanic ignored that and went for the ball joints.

 

Normally the rubber bushings that hold the sway bar and other front end components are dry and they don't make any noise.

 

Now that yours are "wet," you may hear them again as they start to dry out.

 

Did you have an antifreeze leak that got them wet initially? Sometimes this happens and creates this vicious circle where you have to lube them to keep them quiet, and they start making noise every time the lubricant starts to dry out.

 

Next time you have a squeek, use your sense of touch to find it. If you put your hand on the part that's squeaking, you should be able to feel it as it squeaks. The closer you get to the source of the squeak, the more you will feel it in your hand. (You might require a helper to do this.)

Early 2002 trailblazer had a lower control arm bushing/bracket recall,the problem is that there is alot of technicians out there that don't care or don't know what they are doing,what I mean is alot of this recall control arms bolts were tighten with the wheel hanging on the lift and that will twist the bushing when the vehicle is put back on the ground and will lead to premature failure of the bushing.

Make shure the control arm bushings are tighten with the vehicles weight is on the wheels.
