Headlamp assembly

Hey guys, I'm lookin' for anybody that has the Crystal style headlamps in their truck. I always kinda though it was kinda riceboyish, but I'm interested in seeing some photos of anyone that has em. I been seeing some on the net for pretty cheap, and I was tryin' to get out of buying the OEM ones off of Mr. Tail light. More so..if anyone knows a good cheap place to get a set of headlight assemblies I'd greatly appriciate it.

I have These from C/K Resto They are made by APC. I've had them for over a year now and have been pretty happy with them. The fit isn't perfect, but acceptable to me. They have GLASS lenses. I still need to take pictures so I dont have any just yet

I have not heard any good things from the aftermarket lights. I have been told by my customers that they do not fit correctly and they leak. If you buy new OEM ones, they are nice and clear.

How much are the OEM ones please? The glass lenses on the headlamps on my 1995 Sierra are all foggy.

I am suprised that there is no good aftermarket alternative considering how popular these trucks are and how many older ones are on the road.

Check ebay. I am doin' a lot of shopping from Mr. Taillight.com and off there they are 89.99. Thats not really that bad, and I may end up going that route before its all over.

Thank you, I looked on Mr. Taillight.com's site b/c I could not find him on eBay. On his site I saw a kit for $129 and it was described as "OEM type." That doesn't really mean OEM, right?

They did not have very flattering things to say about mr tail light as a vendor in this thread though:

OEM Type means they look like the OEM lights. To get OEM lights you want to go to a Chevy dealer or check gmpartsdirect.com. Sometimes if you talk nice to the parts guys, they will cut you a break on the price. Sylvania has a set of lights that are HID and a exact fit unit, but since they make the orignal lights for Chevy, they have the specs. I have been looking into those for $250 or so.

I service body shops in NC, SC and VA, so I get to talk to a lot of guys putting this stuff on, and the aftermarkets always get poor marks. The shops prefer the OEM stuff for fit.

Ok guys, my 93 truck had 13 rough years in Colorado. The light lenses were dull. I took a bottle of plastic polish and buffed the haze off. I have also used rubbing compound at first. Be careful with rubbing compound. I also put in a new windshield after many Colorado winters and the clear view was wonderful afer the lights were buffed and the new windshield. Buffing may have to be done every few years. My brother-in-law with his 91 had the same problem. Buff the haze off!!

So where did you end up ordering your headlight from OUMike? I need one as well due to a broken mount(not sure how that happened, must have been that way when I bought the truck) and now moisture in the lense.

BTW I saw a show recently(don't recall which one) where they used toothpaste to get the haze off of the lenses. Worked really well!

Haha, yea I'm kinda poor. It was gonna be a fairly expensive project and I ended up spending the money I was gonna spend on that on tickets to John Mayer, Megadeth/Heaven and Hell and Rush. Very excited about Rush..

But...I was just gonna order from Mr. Taillight. Their prices on the OEM kits are pretty fair, and I like the idea of ordering from them better than eBay. Most of the eBay auctions were only one light and they were cheap, but with insane shipping charges it ended up being more money.

I'll probably order everything from Mr. Taillight. The only thing I'm thinking is Mr. Taillight's grille is plastic, and I've found a couple metal ones.

Well Im new here but i want to say that i have a 89 Chevy 2500 and a 04 Silverado Z71 and on my 89 i bought new "euro" headlights from LMC Truck and they are all glass and they fit like stock. I dont have the 1 piece I had to buy all 4 but they all fit like OEM.
