BODY LIFT GAP

Recommended Posts

I recently put a 3" body lift on my 2000 Z71. I opted not to move the rear bumper up because of everything I heard about the new brackets not being very sturdy. I am thinking of having a piece of polished stainless steel made to fill in the gap, and then throw a LED light bar on it. Has anyone done something similar to this? If so any suggestions are appreciated.

Lots of people around the town I live in use diamond plate to cover the gap in the rear, matches the tool box or bed rails pretty well. Should be able to get it at any home improvement store.

On my old truck 1998 1500 4x4 extended cab I did the 3" body lift, then headed to a local weld shop, they cut a peice of diamond plate to fit exaclty and welded it on which turned out real nice. The weld did not show through from the back of the truck so it looked good, it hides the lift blocks and let me keep the bumper in the original position. I think I only paid around $60 total for the diamond plate and weld work and it took about 40 mins for them to do. I also added the long LED light to it just to break up the diamond plate a little.
