Where can I get a cluster programmed? I called my local GM dealership and much to my suprise they said they ship them out to some one else... This is the largest parts warehouse in NH and they ship it out!

Any one know a place that i can ship it too or go to locally and get the miles and hrs put into it?

Might not be as simple as shipping it out. Let me explain. I asked my dealer where they send them out and they told me. Sorry but I don't have their name handy. Anyhow, I called them and they told me the only way they would do it would be if I brought in both clusters so they could verify the original mileage. Turned out to be no big deal because I just drove there, pulled the cluster in the parking lot, brought them both in and 15 minutes and $70 later I walked out with both and installed the new in the parking lot and off I went.

Now this was my experience at one place. They told me they they could get shut down if they were caught improperly programming mileage and they just were not willing to take that risk. They claimed major restrictions on what they could and couldn't do. I am sure there may be many places that would be willing to do this regardless of the rule. I also know it is perfectly legal to put in a new od with 0 miles on it and put a sticker on the door stating the mileage when replaced. I think they were only concerned when setting the mileage at anything but zero without proof it was the correct mileage. That said, who's to say somebody doesn't grab a buddy's cluster with much less mileage and present it as his to the speedo shop???

Hopefully somebody else will post a better story or a site. I would first ask your dealer where they send them. Mine told me but I'm sure others would want to tack on their handling fee/profit  Good luck!

I had mine programmed just outside of Dallas, Tx. I also had to produce both the new and old cluster and the VIN to have it accomplished. It took them about 20 minutes and cost me $45.00 to get it done and everything was perfectly legal. This place is an authorized AC Delco repair facility.

someone mentioned a place in the DFW area. I know of one called AutoCraft that is very reputable. They have a listing in yellowpages.com

That's the place I was referring to.....

I just purchased a 2004 Sierra that immediatley needed a new cluster put in. Should i be concerned with the mileage as presented to me upon purchasing the truck? Can a bad cluster affect the mileage as shown on the truck?

Thanks for the help!

Call Carl Cowles at Digital Dash Solutions. 860-583-0629. He refurbishes/remanufactures, he seems to know the software side really well, and he has plenty of options available for upgrades. I just got an Escalade cluster for mine and told him I'd be doing the UK3/Steering Wheel upgrade later and he just said to send my cluster back when the time comes and he'd reprogram it for a nominal charge. He also has a 1 year warranty.

I bought a new cluster for my truck and sent it to Carl Cowles at Digital Dash Solutions. He also usually sells clusters on eBay for a reasonable price. He is fast (usually one day turn around if you send him one). You have to fill out some paperwork and send it with your cluster but it was easy to do. The cluster works great and now my 2000 Sierra has a trans temp guage. Boomer73 is correct, he also has (and honors) his one year warranty.:withstupid:
