Inspection Time !

Just got a call from the shop.

I knew I was going to need some work, but not what I just heard. May be close to $1000 to get everything done.

This is what's on the list....

Replace lower ball joints

Replace idler arm

Muffler/tailpipe

Front tires

Plug wires (my request)

Change both O2 sensors (my request)

Check engine light has been on for more than a few months, and lately (last 3-4 weeks) my MPG went down to about 10-11 :withstupid: which is why I wanted plug wires & O2 sensors done (did plugs around Jan.)

About 8 or 9 weeks ago I had it at another shop to check out what was making the noise in the front end. They said the idler arm was a little loose, but not bad, otherwise nothing seemed outta place/loose.

The way the shop doing the inspection sounded, the ball joints were pretty bad!? Don't think I'm going to the other shop again !! I think he just wanted to close up for the day, so he didn't want to do the work.

Oh well, guess I'll have to wait and see what the billfold damage is when all is done.

And the spending continues....

Turned out the whole bill to pass inspection was just over $1200. But the truck is running/handling alot better and my mileage is back where it should be.

But now I've found something that shouldn't have let it pass inspection.

I'm guessing that since the shop worked on the front end, they only looked at those brakes, which were good, but the rear passenger side brakes started squeeling the day after I got it back.

I was finally able to get to taking the wheel off (was hoping that a dust cover was causing the noise) and found the inner brake pad is shot.

Went to the parts store, only to find out I was 20 minutes late, they'd already closed for the day :shakehead:

Oh well, maybe I can get to it Monday, before work (second shift).
