Well. It was finally nice so I ripped the black molding off and added my Sierra molding. I didn't realize until I got the molding that it was going to go the entire way back to the bed unlike the Sierra/Silverados stock ones do. I think it looks much better then the black though.

I like the chrome better also (but hey i own a gmc). But the real difference to me is that the gmc chrome goes all the way to the bed and the chevys stop at the rear doors. Why do they do that? It looks so much better when it runs the whole length.

i was wondering the same thing b/c the crew cab sierra only has it on the doors also. that's what i assumed i was going to get. i like it better this way since it's differnent then both.

What you probably ended up with was the GM accessories version of the trim, that goes from fender to fender but looks like the GMC trim.

On the ext. Cab Sierras the trim goes from fender to Fender as well. I believe...Im too lazy to walk out to my garage to check. If it doesn't then I DO like yours better.

yes it is the actual gm accessories part. the weird thing is it says gmc on the back of all the pieces.

and yes i believe on the gmc's the trim goes all the way but i think the chevy's are only two pieces...i could be wrong though

The 99-02 trim went full length on both GMC and Chevrolet, but the 03-07 trucks only have it on the cab. It must have been part of the cost cutting that GM did at that time.

Ah..that explains it. I have an 02 extended cab. Guess thats just one more reason i'll be holding onto my 02 for a while longer. This type of cost cutting is senseless in my opinion. Much like the heated mirrors, dual 12v accessory jacks, under hood lighting, etc...

Looks great, I have the same GM bodyside molding kit to install on my '05 WT. Just waiting for a nice warm sunshiny day to do it. Got any tips for an easy install? I'm thinking all I need to do is clean the area with rubbing alcohol and run a strip of masking tape down the side as a guide to keep it straight. Am I missing anything?
