Hey just wanted some opinons on a price I recieved on a NB Z71 2wd CC w/5.3, 3.42 & 18' wheels. Sticker is $31,540 and was priced $27,300. Is this a good deal? That was with $2,000 incentives from Chevy.

2WD Z71???????

Is GM going the Toyota route and offering off-roading suspensions and tires on 2WD's now?

Yup, I couldnt beleive it myself at first. Who would want a off Z71 in 2WD?

I'm not a huge fan of a 2WD Z71, I wish GM would have called it the Z66 instead since Z71s have always been 4WD. But I do think they will sell well as most people don't need 4WD anyway and they just buy it for the stance. Ford has even started doing this with the FX2 option.

I had a friend some time ago with a 2wd open diff c 10 chevy. It was unstoppable. I giggled quite a bit in the shotgun seat.

4 wd is a bit overrated, very heavy and mechanically complex. 2 wd with a locker would be hard to stop.

Without know the exact options, invoice is probably around $29,000-$29,500, minus the $2K incentives = $27-27.5K. So yep, that's a pretty good deal.

Yeah I didn't feel it was too bad of deal. It will be a month before I buy one anyway so there was no point in negotiating until I buy one. He hinted the incentives might be better in May.

Seems like a lot of people complain about those 3.42 gears if they're towing.

Not sure if that's an issue for you, just a thought.

I agree, if you're going to be running tires any bigger than 30", you definitely don't want those gears.

However, I have roughly 28.9" tires and couldn't be happier with the 3.42 gears. Burns tires without powerbraking and still gets decent highway mileage. It is a little doggy in overdrive, but only downshifts when towing up steep hills.

great deal but if your gonna tow you might want shorter tires(but that would look bad) or re gear it. other than that, my father has a 5.3 4x4 with 3.42s and it works great, but when towing a trailer it had to downshift a lot
