Just Put Order In - How Long You Guys Been Waiting?

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Just ordered my 2007 GMC Sierra Crew Cab. I got the SLE2 package, Z-71 4WD, trailering, side air bags, sunroof, 5.3 FlexFuel. Dark Blue / Titanium. Can't wait to get it! A couple of questions:

1. How long have people been waiting lately for one of these special order?

2. Anyone know where they are built?

3. Bedliner, fiberglass tonneau, other accessories - OEM or aftermarket?

Any adivice / opinions appreciated!

I believe all the 1500 crew cabs are being built at Oshawa, Ontario. Plan on 6-8 weeks to get your truck.

The steps on my truck are the GM 6-inch oval tube steps. Nice sturdy platform.

I have the same question. I put in my order 2.5 weeks ago, and it isn't clear to me when I'll get a build date.

I'm hoping it's here for camping trip in middle of May.

Here's my truck:

I picked up my '07 Sierra VortecMAX today (black/black). Wow, what a difference from the '06. Feels like a completely different truck.

My only complaint is the 4 speed tranny, this engine is begging for a 6-speed.

Well I waited from Jan 10 to Feb 25th for my new 2500HD. I was first told mid-late March.

Dealer was shocked when I called on Feb 15 to see if he had a build date - he looked and found it had been built two days earlier. It took 10days to travel to Portland OR.

The 6speed tranny is why I held out for the 2500HD over the 1500 Vortex Max towing pkg.

The special order on my regular cab/long box, 1LT, Z-71 was placed on 3/9 and arrived yesterday (3/30) at the dealer.

As for the accessories: If you live anywhere near salt and/or moisture, would recommend a spray-in type liner (Rhino or Line-X) over a plastic insert. The dealer sent my truck to the Line-X shop and will have it back to deliver on Monday.

Before you drop big dollars into a fiberglass hard cover, Google "tonneau" and start following the links. Take a look at some of the alternatives. Many of the newer tonneau products are just about as secure as a fiberglass cover but not as cumbersome and at a fraction of the cost. Eventually ordered a Bakflip but had several good choices that would meet my needs.

I'm ordering mine this weekend. The dealer told me it will take 6-8 weeks before delivery and I must order before 26 April, or I'll have to wait until June and order an 08.

2 weeks to a month is about right. It only takes us 22 hours to build your truck from the stamping plant to rolling out the door ready for transport.

My 07 fully loaded LTZ Silverado nightrider i have was built last week on my shift. Kinda sucks that i can just go down to the gm garage and pick out any truck i want to take for a few nights eh? mmm heated leather seats. I had a Denali a week ago for 2 days. I am also getting a silverdo with the 6.2 engine test truck for a day next week.

Thanks guys - hopefully closer to the 6 week window then - appreciate it!

Still looking over the tommeau covers. I think I'll be getting the 6" ovals from the dealer... other than that - maybe color matched Rhino....

FYI: If you have to order accessories (like a tonneau cover) expect some delays. It might not be too bad for a crew cab but the regular & extended cabs are too new and many of the accessory makers just aren't ready for them. Yesterday, the Line-X dealer told me he has customers buying tonneau covers that won't be ready until mid to late April. He advised me to wait @ a month before buying steps/bars for a regular cab as the better quality choices should be available by then.

    • This is a really late reply but I just found this thread. They won't sell the hinges. I've gone 7 rounds with them. Their solution is to buy a new cover. I'm about to buy a new cover and it won't be a Bakflip. It also won't be from realtruck.com.
    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
