Wait4me Tune

I've heard a lot of buzz about wait4me tunes. I did a quick google search and only came up with a lot of good press on other forums. My question is where can I get it and what exactly is it? Although I guess they shouldn't be in that order. Lots of you guys have 'em and I think I might want to join the croud, thanks.

For $158.10, he will ship you a new computer for your vehicle. That way you have your old computer as a backup. He will also reprogram yours if you want for cheaper.

 

I installed mine today, and noticed some difference. Haven't really tried to drive it hard yet. Here is the e-mail he sent me originally:

Here is some info on what we can do for typical mileage and horsepower gains:

87-90 octanes will give 1-2 miles per gallon better gas mileage and 15-20 more horse power.

91-93 octanes will give 2-4 miles per gallon better gas mileage and 25-30 more horse power.

This will vary depending on driving habits and quality of gas used. Using 10% or higher ethanol content will decrease gas mileage as it is filler. You are always free to run any octane that you want, Jesse makes the PCM "smarter" so anytime you change the octane the PCM will adjust all of the tables so you will always see the maximum benifits from any octane.

I have a wait4me tune in my truck and just love it. Really woke the truck up. And now since I'm towing again, the truck is towing much better.

When I ordered my tune, I accidently said 89 octane gas and not 87. Not a big deal, however, if I now use 87 octance, the engine will knock under load. So, I'm not sure that the tune will let you use lower octane than you specify.

Something to think about.

Other than that, absolutely satisfied.

how does the PCM know/detect what octane fuel you're running? Do these vehicles have a knock sensor? That's the only way that I can see the PCM automatically adjusting for octane. Running higher spark tables then relying on the knock sensor to reduce spark when a lower octane is used and knock is detected :confused:

:confused: I think with the free updates, you just ship it back and leave a note in the box saying what changes you want. Im getting retuned from 87 to 93, and when I emailed them about this he said just send the PCM and leave a note with what you want changed.

I got the Xcalibrator 2. It's awsome! I get three Jesse tunes in his flash tool. Maximum Power tune really wakes up my truck!!

Roy, can you tell us more about the XCalibrator. How long have you had it, which tunes do you have and have you seen any MPG change? I would like to know more about this unit if you do not mind sharing this with us.

 

Also, I am assuming you had to do the Crank Relearn just as you would with a regular tune???

Thanks for the information, sounds to me like it would be a worth while venture. I'm getting new tires (bigger) so I guess I'll wait until after that to see about it, plus I recently had my dog die so man needs a new best friend before anything else. Thanks again for all the info and first hand knowledge.

Tom, this happens in all late model engines with ECMs and Knock Sensors. The system works in miliseconds and retards the timing to remove the detonation. Unlike in older engines, they just kept "pinging" which is not good.

 

Once the timing is retarded, the ECM then begins moving it back up very slowly until the knock sensor detects the detonation again and it goes back through it's cycle.

GM has had ESC on there vehicles since 1981 and the system works very well. Engines with 10 -11 to 1 CR run great. With out it these vehicles would be dogs.
