Airaid Modular Intake Tube, Anyone Have One?

Thinkin of one for my 06 Sierra with 4.8. It's stock aside from exhaust and for its size its a beast of a little engine but it has abit of lag in acceleration under heavy throttle application off the line. I know the airaid is supposed to flow 400 more cfm but i wonder if anyone has used one in the real world. if you have experience is it honestly worth $120? Did you get much better throttle response? I'd imagine hp/tq should be minimaly better at best. Did it help mileage any? I'm really lookin for quicker acceleration though, just somethin to take abit of the off the line lag out.

I have had one on my 6.0L Suburban for about two years, I did not notice much performance increase other than noise (sounds cooler on acceleration). The factory intake tube on the Suburban had noise reduction tentacles coming off from the sides. I do think the mileage improved slightly <1mpg. The thing that woke the Suburban up was the Wait For Me Tune. The mail order tune for 2002 Suburban was around $157.

I've got one.

- No change in mileage for the better or worse.

- No discernable change in power. If there is one, I think you would need to do a dyno back-to-back to confirm.

- Cool sound when you accelerate.

Would I do it again, probably not. From what I've read a performance tune is the best benefit for the $. I plan on getting one soon. Just waiting to rack up a few more miles first and save a few bucks.

I have one on my truck. Didn't really notice much difference other than it sounded way cooler at WOT. :tear:

As in a previous post, spend your money on a tune instead. That'll give you much better performance for the dollar.

Of course, adding the airraid with a tune.......

I don't know if I wanna tune it or not. i aint even got 8500k on her yet. generally i'm mod happy like on my last truck but i'm really picky anymore on what i do and i had some issues on my last truck with a superchip module. i know its unusual and i trust this truck to last until the wheels fall off of it. i'm a Ford tech and i've saw lots of mods gone bad there...then again with Ford anymore every vehicle is a bad thing gone worse. i love knowing that in the technician parking lot at a Ford dealer almost every vehicle is GM
