I have a 2007 Classic K1500 - Z71 and I have had a slight vibration in the truck since day one and I was told that it was the tires but they were within spec? I also had an alignment done at around 3000 miles by a local shop because the dealer didn't have the specs for an 07 classic.

 

I am now on my second set of tires. The first set was the bridgestone OEM's and I had to have them Road Force balanced 2 times during the first 9000 miles. They felt like they were out of round and then they developed a wah, wah, wah sound that increased with speed. I was told that they could do nothing about the noise.

 

So...after the dealer and GM refused to replace the tires, I went with a set of Revo's to match the size that was on the truck. When the tire place put them on, they checked the alignment and said it was within specs.

 

These tires rood good for a month or so and 2500 miles later and my tires have developed that annoying wah, wah, wah, sound that increases with speed and they are now starting to wear on the front outside edges pretty good. I had them balanced by the tire shop last week (spin balance) yet they still make the same noise.

 

I am taking it back to the tire place tomorrow to have them re-check the alignment but I have a feeling it is going to be "within spec" and I will be stuck with tires that make an annoying noise like they are out of balance.

 

I normally would write it off as tires but now that it is a second set starting to make the same road noise, I would have to beleive that it is something causing them to wear prematurely.

 

Any thoughts here...am I chasing the right ghost (balance and alignment) or could it be that a wheel bearing, shock, or ball joint is bad?

There are few things I would suggest checking. 1- Check the tires make sure they are weighted properly. 2- Do you have a broken spring or shim? 3- Is the driveshaft warped? 4- Last and worst, have you gone "Baja-ing", if so check to see if the frame has been twisted.--this may sound extreme but a dealer once tried to sell me a brand new canyon, it had a vibration at @ 45mph. When I got back to the dealers yard, I looked underneath and found the truck had been where it shouldn't have been. The crossmember or supports between the frame rails in the middle of the truck were both bent or hit something REALLY hard. The dealer said it was the drive shaft and it had been replaced, bull, I knew better and bought my truck somewhere else.

      Here's the second UOA on my 22 Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This has 5k miles on AMSOIL Signature Series DEO 5w-40. The first one was dealer installed oil, no clue what it was, the second is what AMSOIL recommended, European FS 5w-40, Most of the Ecodiesel world is showing great results using the European MS 5w-40, I figured I would see how the DEO works. This is using an Ecoguard oil filter. It's my understanding this engine likes to shed aluminum.  We will see. So far I don't think this is too bad.

      I'm surprised nobody seems to offer a solution like the start/stop device I put in my new truck. Remembers my setting when shutdown. And while it still starts up in start/stop, it stores/evaluates what mode it was in when shut down and will change it whithin a second or 2 of startup. It'd be nice to have something like that for the DRLs.

      2015 Sierra 1500 here. Leaks from the sunroof to front driver side and soaks carpet. How do I fix this? Thanks!

      I will be doing that for sure, but I need to solve who has/ where I can find a bidirectional scan tool that will support OBD 1.5. I'm kicking myself because I ebay'ed a Snap On MT2500 that I didn't think I'd ever need anymore. D'oh!! I'd rather not buy another, so I'll contact a few local shops to see if they have one and how much they'd want to do the procedure. I'd rather have the ability to do it myself... I wish there was a modern tool that could do it all, but I'd have no idea what to buy.   The theory with the pulled timing is that it mimics a rich condition. The delayed spark causes incomplete burn and the O2 sensor picks up low oxygen levels. That's interpreted as a rich condition so the PCM pulls fuel and that shows up in the deeply negative fuel trims.
