Wiper Blade Cowl

This might seem real lame. I removed all the screws and the left and right small mouldings. I just can not get the wiper vented moulding to pop loose.

I need to check the linkage, because of a hitting noise when the wipers are on.

How the heck do you remove that moulding in front of the windshield?

This is a 1999 Yukon Dinali.

Just did my 2002 Z71 which is the same for about the tenth time yesterday. Here's what ya got to do.

1. Remove the wiper arms and mark or index them (trust me on this one) You may need to use a wiper arm removal tool from parts store - like 9.00 bucks

2. Remove the 5 springs clips holding the cowl on in the engine compartment. These are spaced about a foot apart and just slide off toward the front of the truck.

3. Remove the trim caps that cover the hood hinge arms (three spring clips).

4. Under these trim pieces you'll find a small torx screw on each side.

5. Remove the washer supply line from under the cowl on the drivers side.

6. Remove the cowl from the truck - make sure you pull or disengage the christmas tree fasnter from the middle of the cowl.

You now have access to the wiper motor and linkage. If you like you can unplug the motor and remove 5 10mm bolts and the entire assembly can be removed.

As for the banging noise, check the linkage at each of the ball and socket connections. they should be tight and what ever you do DON'T GREESE THEM. Again, trust me on this one.
