2007 Silverado Ltz Rear Wheelwell

Anyone here live on a gravel road? i am getting my new silverado ltz soon, and am worried that stone chips are going to make the rear wheelwell look like crap rite behind the rear tire. thought about putting that bedliner spray on there, but wondered how that would look, do they have a smooth finish or not? just wondering what you people thought?

Doesn't it already come with fender flares? I've always used Molded mudflaps.

Its a smooth wheel well, Ive been considering getting a spray in liner put in under there as well, but am worried about the black look.

Im thinking i might order some of that plastic stick-on stuff that you can put on your rocker panels instead. I think that would protect it the most.

I would go to Line-X and have them color match the spray-in stuff, or black would look ok too depending on the color of your truck. They can also make it smooth if you want it that way. Line-X actually is smooth when they apply it, they add the texture afterward by pulling the spray away and "overspraying" it.

Line-X would protect it MUCH better than that clear plastic, plus, it will stick better/longer.

Plus, get a GOOD set of mud flaps. The real rubber ones, especially in the rear.

VMAX2007 - I agree a linex color match would be the best coverage, but costly.

Trimbrite makes a clear plastic film that would protect the paint from chipping, which is my only concern. dont want any rust spots. I didnt do anything on my 03 wheel wells other than wash them by hand when i did the tires... They lasted fine, but i never did much off roading. The new bridgestones I have on my 07 seem to grab stones and throw them more, so im gonna order this stuff.

Costly? maybe, but compared to the dough you just put down on that new truck?

I would question the clear plastic's ability to prevent paint damage from a large stone thrown from your tire at point blank range. It may be ok for airborn debris, sand and very small stones, but rocks from gravel roads and stones from tires? hmm, I have my doubts. Also, the line-x (or equivalent) will keep it from sounding like you are being shot at with a .22 when these stones fly around your wheel well. I know what I'd do.

Oh, and how easy will it be to apply that film to the wheel wells with all of the contours in the wheel well?

Look into a mylar spray. Look around your rear wheelwells, there is a hard plastic applied, hard to notice, thats mylar we apply to protect the paint, works awsome!

I drive quite a bit on dirt & gravel roads, and in the past year my paint has been chewed up a ridiculous amount. The problem areas aren't the wheel wells, but the rear fenders, and rocker panels. I'll take some pictures tonight when I get home. I've been considering rhino lining the bottom part of the truck to protect it, and prevent rust, I'm just not sure if it would look ghetto or not. Something like they have on the Avalanches is what I'm considering doing.

Also, I tried putting on mud flaps, but they didn't do a thing to protect the paint from more chips.

I'm asking myself the same question. LineX wants $80 a wheel as long as they don't have to take the tyre off!

I've seen a product called Shiltz, basically spray on thick paint. If it's black, so be it, just paint under the wheel well, leaving the leading edge showing. I don't think it can look no more tacky than raw paint showing

I don't know either what to do.

Ok thank you, would canadian tire sell this? and just spray it on? and then it hardens or what? and what would you do about keeping the frame of the truck looking good? nothing worse than a clean truck and a rusted out frame. Thanks for the reply!
