How Will This Work?

Or will doing this totally screw up the sound?

I just picked up my new down-firing, under the seat sub-box and had an idea run through my mind. Descretion being, yada, yada, yada, I went with a nice pair of JBL 6 1/2's in the doors. Now this leaves me a really nice pair of 6x9's, an unused amp and channel in my cross-over and nowhere to put them. Sooooooo I was wondering what would happen if I mounted them in the front of the sub-box firing towards the front seats?

If that would mess up the bass from the subs, would it help if I mounted a pair of boxes for the 6x9's in the front of the sub-box?

Yes it would totally destroy the sound of the subs...you never want to put 2 different size woofers in the same enclosure because it will cause a type of sound cancelling..so very bad idea.

And why use the 6x9's at all? You could just sell all the extra stuff and recover some lost funds. Or put them in the wifes car...something like that.

And Tim, aren't you from Oklahoma? Did you purchase the box? If you did you should of let me know, i could of built you a custom box to your liking and installed it for cheaper!

Oh...And to answer your question...If you REALLY want to use those 6x9's, I know that there's at least one member here that put them in the rear doors of his truck with minimal cutting.

Well after figuring out how to pull the door panel off and some carefull measuring, I decided to go with a set of JBL 6 1/2's in the doors and will probably upgrade the 4x6's in the back with a pair of Memphis Audio 4x6 mid bass speakers to handle the amps that I will be running.

Now all I have to do is collect all the RCA cables, amp wiring, fuses, speaker wire, ect. ect to wire everything up. Man that stuff has gotten expensive since the last time I installed a sound system! :shakehead:

knukonceptz.com is a great place to get your amp kits and such. Also try kicker kits off of ebay. Email me if you need links for anything or where to get anything.
