Cracks In Goodyear Sidewall

I noticed I have 2 Goodyear Wranglers with small cracks in the sidewalls. They have a decent amount of tread life left but probably over 70,000 miles on them. I bought these at Sears in '04 I believe. Should I be eligible for a new set at a prorated price? Finally, how concerned should I be over small cracks in the sidewall?

I would go back and complain. They need to do something for you, but then it's Sears!!! Their automotive center is a joke.

i worked at a gooyear for years. thats not bad at all. i wouldnt even worry about it.

the sidewall is cracked and he's driving a truck, why chance it go back there and complain and get some new ones, why settle for junk when thtas not what you pay for, taking a chance and having one split doesnt make sence, that just like having a bubble on the side of your tire, thats not how ur supposed to run the tire!!

i agree with the above poster - take it back and ask for a warranty claim. If they won't honor it, buy new ones. Why risk the chance of having a blowout? It could hurt you / passangers, mess up your truck, etc.

i dont know how i missed the top pic the first time. im very sorry. you should get that fixed asap. looks like a cut to me. the tire should not do that. take it back. whats the mileage warranty on the tire? it might not even be 70,000. they probably wont give you anything but it worth a try. id be pretty happy with the 70,000 though.

I would approach the situation as being concerned and firm instead. They should prorate the tires without a doubt.

That type of crack in your sidewall is bad news. common to see this when the casing is about to peel apart from being overheated. Judging by the slight buldge/dimple (belt damage) in the photo, expect them to say you were running them underinflated, or overloaded, or pulling an excessive load, or ran on the tire while flat. Good luck, it can't hurt to ask for a proration but I wouldn't keep these tires on the truck any longer than necessary.

That type of crack is due to the sidewalls dryrotting. I'm guessing you like to use tire dressing alot???

I stay away from that stuff. My wifes Xterra is almost 7 years old with the original BFG tires on them (truck only has 35k on it). And they don't even look 1/8 as bad as those since I don't use tire dressing.
