07 Nbs Vmax Gas Mpg?

I just recently bought a '07 Silverado VMax 2wd Ext. Cab, and I am interested in what most people with these trucks are getting for gas mileage.

The reason I am wondering is the fact my EPA sticker rated the truck for 15 MPG in the City, and my truck gets 12.6 in the city. Now I have read a few peoples threads and some people are getting 13 and 14 to the gallon. Granted that is not much, but hey every bit helps. I have about 700 miles so far on the truck. I don't know if maybe it needs to break in more, or worse I got a problem. Any help would be appreciated.

My girlfriend driving my 07 4x4 crewcab 4.8 averages 11-13 in town. When I drive it, I average 14-16 in town.

Guess I need to start driving... like a girl?

I have the 5.3 and I only get around 12.5 - 13 MPG in the "City" as well. The big issue is what kind of city driving you do. If you live in an area with lots of stop signs and traffic llights, you're going to see the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to average MPG. If you live in a city environment where you are travelling a couple miles or so at a time without having to accelerate hard, etc., then you'll probably see a bit better numbers. Another factor can be the elevation changes. Are your roads flat or do they have hills? Having to push these trucks up hills can really hurt the numbers.

On a good note, my same truck that gets the 12.5 in the "City" gets between 19.5 and 20 MPG on the highway at 65 - 70 MPH with hills included.

The EPA estimates on the window are just that, estimates. If you look close, they also provide a range that extends both higher and lower than the 15 you see in big bold numbers on the sticker. My guess is that you'll see that you actually fall into that range of acceptability.

I have the 5.3 also...I picked that motor because it seems to be the best choice for power and mpg. I've been seeing on average between 15-16 mpg...but if I do all stop and go it drops down. I have around 2000 miles on the truck...but for the first couple of tank fulls I was seeing pretty crappy mpg. I did Daddy's DIC upgrade on my NBS 07 WT and it works great...I did a hand calc last night and it was pretty dead nutts. What I have found though is it is very hard to get this truck to take the same amount of fuel each time. I have seen anywhere from 13.5 mpg to 20.4 mpg depending on how and where the truck is driven...the nice thing is...like Daddy said, I can get 19-20 mpg on the hwy with the cruise set at 65-70...and mine is a 4x4.

Dude, you bought a Vmax truck and your bitching about your milage. Don't even start. You can trade trucks with me instead...is 15-17mpg mixed driving ok with you?

I'm getting around 13-14 mpg in city driving (lots of stop signs and lights in my city trips) in my VMax truck (Crew Cab 4x4 w/ 4.10 gears). I've got just over 11K miles on her now.

You wont see good fuel economy until the engine is broke in somewhere at 12000mi.

Quoted for truth. There is a ton of drivetrain friction to be overcome on new vehicles. Just keep driving.

I appreciate all the good info. I'm not complaining about mileage I am trying to figure out what everybody else is getting with a similar truck. My last truck (5.3) got 14.6 in the city so it doesn't suprise me to much that the mileage is lower hense the 6.0L. Sorry svensk I will keep the 6.0 this truck is alot better compared to the GMT800s the gas mileage can suffer.

I'm getting around 13.5 mpg in mixed city/country driving with my crew cab 4x4 with 6.0L/4.10's. This is with ~1000 miles on the truck. I'm OK with this given my '97 extended cab with 5.7L was getting about 12 for the same driving. I'm hoping it gets better with miles.

2007 Silverado crew cab LTZ, short bed, 2wd, 3.73 axle, 6.0L VMAX (as topic stated) with just under 1,100 miles, mostly city (lots of mountains/changing elevations) driving at 5,200 ft altitude.

The only modification is 20" LTZ wheels/tires (@35 psi) and an S&B drop in filter.

I'm currently averaging 16.5 mpg, but I've gotten 17 mpg on one previous tank. On our initial highway trip with only 500 miles on the odometer, I averaged 18 mpg with the V4 mode on interstate driving for 100 miles round trip. I still had the oem 17" cast aluminum wheels/tires at that time.

Correction: you will never get good fuel economy out of a Vortec Max truck. You get good fuel economy out of a Toyota Corolla. :flag:

I get around 12-14 city w/ my vmax, depending on how hard i run it. But that goes up to 18ish on hwy.

Right now im averaging about 16mpg.

I got 3500 miles on her.

My truck (see sig) is at just under 3000 miles and the overall avg MPG on my DIC says 14.0, ALL city driving so far and I have never reset it.

I reset my DIC MPG at around 500 miles, since the first 500 were really skewing the results, but ive been holdin steady at 15.6mpg for bout two weeks now. My last tank of gas though was at 16.2mpg
