Hey all,

I ahd my truck in the other day to get some nice new "HD" U-Joints and the mech mentioned that the clutch was almost fried on my fan, so my question would be wether or not anyone has installed an electric fan, and if there is one that hooks into the factory thermostat rather than a probe...

Thanks,

Jon

How did the mechanic figure the clutch fan was almost fried?

I installed a flex-a-lite fan about 3 months ago. It works great. The temperature gauge never rises above normal even towing my boat with the A/C on in 85°F humid weather. You'll notice the extra power too. The probe thermostat works great.

LOL, Trucks don't sweat, therefore they don't care about humidity. :driving:

Depends if you have a 27" then use a LS1 and Factory wireing harness for a 05 1/2 ton .

If you have the 34" rad the get the 05 duel fans and the factory 05 fan harness .

Either will need the PCM tuned to turn on pin 33 , and 42 , (yours might need pin 16 and 33 ) which are the High and Low Temp and A/C pressure for the fans and a 145 amp alternator with 1/2 inch longer belt .

Did mine can't tell it is not stock , cost about 600 .

Sure they do...That's why we have DA calcs that you input the temp/humidity/altitude/etc in to give people a more acccurate measuring stick.

A 145 amp alternator isn't required for installing electric fans....

Thanks guys, you've been most helpful. So if i get the ecu tuned to it then it should be able to control the fan? Am I looking for an aftermarket adapter or has gm left the connector there doing nothing and I just need to plug in?

Thanks,

Jon
