I still remember driving a new '05 Regency Tahoe w/ 14" Baer Brakes and how awesome the braking was on that thing. Compared to my Denali, it's far far less impressive. And these heavy 20" factory chrome wheels don't help. I've already got 4 wheel disc, so I'd likely upgrade front/rear with a matching set.

But I can easily see myself throwing on a good "performance brake kit" package sometime in the near future. This would typically be a larger brake system sold as a kit.

What does everybody recommend? Personal experiences? issues?

Update: I'll create a separate thread for the other non-performance brakes.

Go with a slotted rotor like the power slots and go with a ceramic brake pad like EBC or Hawk.

Forgo the crossdrilled rotors as they are prone to cracking at the drilled holes from usage. Unless you road race your truck, crossdrilled are not needed. And once they start cracking at the drilled holes, they must be replaced.

Has anybody had any issues with the latest Baer kits warping/cracking? I like the way the kit looks, just haven't had good experiences with 'em in the past.

We had a 1999 GMC Denali come into are shop with a bad brake problem. He had put 26" rims and keeped the stock brake system. So to improve his brakes somewhat, we installed some slotted brakes and ceramic brake pads. And that seemed to work just fine.

I put Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads on the Suburban. Works well...

I did the same thing except I used the Powerslot Cryo's and added Russell Stainless Brake lines. This made an extremely noticeable difference in my braking. Gotta love this setup. :)
