Well, after driving Dodge Caravans for since 1994 (5 of them) our leasing company has removed them from our offering due to the cost of the 08s and the lack of a std Caravan being avail. They are offering a Grand only.

 

My choices are: HHR, Equinox, Impala, Altima, Camry, Fusion and the new Taurus. Most of you know enough about me by now to know that I would not drive a Datsun or Tojo unless this was my only choices. The HHR is a 4 cyl and too small. The Equinox is nice and a 3400 v6 but also too small for what I need. One of the guys that works for me has a new Impala and it is very nice but the seats are so low in this car that they really do not fit my 6' 2" frame.

 

I went to the Ford Dealer Saturday and looked at the new Taurus ( I really do not like the styling of the Fusion) and not only was I impressed but was amazed. This is big car with much more interior room than the Impala. The seat height is adjustable and can be raised almost as high as my van's seats. The interior fit and finish was really good just as the Impala but it was a little more upscale due the the center console and shifter. The V6 produces 263 HP which is significantly more than the Impala.

 

I left there, removed the fake mustache, the wig and dark glasses and I do not think anyone recognized me.

 

If Chev does not intro the new RWD Impala by the time I order, I am afraid I will have a Ford in my Driveway. I hate this but I drive about 50,000 a year but space and comfort mean a lot.

 

BTW, I have tried to get them to offer a new Chev or GMC Crew Cab but they will not listen.

You think the Taurus looks better than the Fusion?

 

I'd be vice versa, turning my my back on the taurus and looking at a Fusion. But it's your opinion, not mine. :chevrolet:

 

 

 

Different Question, Did your Leasing co. completely axe Daimler Chrysler, or are you just choosing to ignore those choices? :driving:

For some reason I just do not like the Fusion. It's the rear tail lamps that I just cannot get used to. It is also not nearly as big of a car as the Taurus.

 

I am not sure about the leasing company and Chrysler. My guess is they would likely offer us a Grand Caravan but it must not fit the pricing parameters that our comany has set. I was really thinking the new Charger would have been on the list because I am beginning to see some of them as lease cars. Although the ones I have seen have been pretty bare bones as far as equipment.

 

After 5 consecutive Caravans, and everyone has been all but perfect in the area of reliability, it will be hard to give them up.

Chevy has canceled the RWD impala. Also, how do you figure the Taurus has much more hp than the impala, if the impala has the 3900, its got 240. 23 hp in these cars isn't going to be that much of a diff

The Impala offered to us has a 3500 and if I am not mistken isn't is somewhere around 214 HP?

 

Is it true they have scrapped the RWD Impala? If so, I feel they are making a mistake.

 

Mark, I travel for CARQUEST Auto Parts approx 50,000 miles a year in a vehicle. The vehicle does not directly effect my work performance but it certainly does indirectly. A 500 mile day along with several hours of work can take a toll on you if the car is not comfortable. Our company got really smart back in the early 90s and put us in Grand Am Pontiacs. Not bad little cars but not for hundreds of miles a day or a guy who is 6' 2". It was so bad that I parked it after 4 months and began using a 94 Caravan that was a spare for us and had 130K on it.

 

I have really enjoyed the vans becuase if we are on a new store set up or a store move, I have room to carry the tools and supplies needed and do not have to rely on someone else. This is what I will miss the most about the vans.

 

Oh yea, Jeremy there is a Mopar on the list. A Chrysler Sebring which I really like but it is just too small for me.

That stinks! Where is the website that talks about what is coming up for GM. My wife will be geting a new car next and I was really hoping for a sedan from GM, but I'm with C&A I don't like the sedan offerings of GM as mucha s Ford or Chrysler. With the 500/Taurus, you can get a CVT, AWD and all in a pretty big safe car. Chrysler has well, BIG V8 and rear wheel drive. I was really wanting either a nice "safe" sedan like the Taurus or performer like the 300. I like the SS Impala but the front wheel drive ain't gonna cut it, for a performance sedan.

 

Anybody got the link to the site that shows what models are coming up for GM and what to expect from them?

That's understandable. They're quite small.

 

Like you were saying earlier. I( would've thought the Charger would have been a dead-ringer on that list.

Andy, take a look at Pontiac's website and at the new G8. Now this is a perf sedan. 6.0 400+ HP, 6 spd, RWD, great aggressive looks etc etc. It is really a 4 door GTO with better styling. As I have said before, "A V8 Motor with a tranmission behind it and the power going through the rear wheels, just the way God intended it." However, I do not see it being offered on my lease list. :eek: Too Bad !!!

Now if Buick could get a hold of that chassis, lux it up a bit. Little bit sexier sheet metal. That'd be my car! (I would go Cadillac but a little too pricey for me.)

Ford introduced the 500 trying to capitalize on a name from the past as Chrysler did with the 300. It did not work and the 500 was a miserable failure in terms of sales. They re-skinned the front cap and made some chages to the interior and renamed it "Taurus".

 

This will likely be a very positive move for them. I think the name 500 skipped so far back that it was remembered by a generation that is not a prime target for new cars. Also, I am not sure the Galaxy 500 or Fairlane 500 every had the appeal that the Chrysler 300 had.

 

Anyway, the 500 name is dead and the Taurus is back and as long as they keep it priced where lease companies can offer it to corporate fleets, you will see them on the road.

I'm with ya on the Taurus one of the consultants I was meeting with today had a Taurus Co. car. I asked him how he liked it. He said he liked it so much he might trade his wifes accord in on one for her. I'd have to say I'd have no problem driving one.

      Thanks for all that information, I might purchase one and see if it will work for me, if not they may let me return it! Yes for sure the tires are definitely within limit for my truck empty, and when I do tow I'll definitely make sure to raise the rear psi for the amount of weight that's going to be on it.

      Yes exactly, more and more these days people/companies are afraid of liability issues so its easier just to say no rather than risk putting their neck on the line.    I will say with the Autel unit or when I used it last year on my truck, it wasn't like I could choose the 2025 model year or even the 2024 model year as that option was not there to manipulate the placard pressures but had to go back to 2023 or there abouts and then it showed up as an option, odd but that was how the software was then and I can't say one way or the other now as they throw out updates every so often. I still would talk to your tire dealer though to start with and they may do it for nothing but also they may have a comment on a better unit to purchase. All I know is that one of the large tire shops in my area happens to use these Autel units for their use and set them up to use the wifi and all of that jazz for constant updating because each tire tech has one handed to them by the shop but I just plugged it into my laptop to update it and yes if one is bought it has to be registered so you can get the link to do updates and then the unit has to be updated before its even used. I am not at all techy so it took me a bit but anyway just a heads up for anything you buy, most likely it will need to be connected to a computer to access the internet to have it updated to the latest software version before you can put it to use.   If your truck is near empty, those tire pressures you listed are a very safe upper range pressures to carry the weight, both the front and rear as I know they could be run lower yet with an empty truck. And if its a trailer and not some motorcycle your going to strap onto the front of your truck on a rack, you shouldn't have a need to inflate your front tires if your at 55 front already, its the rear ones that would need more air if you have much hitch weight.

      Thank you, I'll check that Autel scanner out and see if it will work for me! Ya I can see GM's point of view if they lower the psi set value for someone and the person sell's the truck and the new owner puts the factory tires back on then their could be liability issues cause the psi warning light wasn't coming on when the tires were under inflated for towing their load and then it might be able to be traced back to GM lowering it.

      I had a similar but different response when I talked to the service manager where I bought my truck in that he said GM corporate won't allow them to lower the placard pressure setting as they would get their hand slapped but that of course they have the ability to make that change. His suggestion was simply go to a tire dealer or third party shop that is willing to reset the pressures lower. However I chose to buy a tpms tool and partly based off of this very forum as it had been proven to work on the 2024 model ( Global B system ) and while I could have paid lots for a full two way diag tool, I didn't want to spend that much and bought the recommended Autel TS 508 and it will reprogram the 2025 model and assume it should do the 2026 as well. However the tool is rather proprietary to reprogramming Autel tpms sensors so that is a function I will never use, where as a real two way scanner would have many uses but also have yearly subscriptions etc where this 508 is free updates for as long as they put updates out for the unit. In any event it worked to lower the placard pressures and I often use it to adjust my actual tire pressures although will check with a mechanical gauge as well sometimes just to make sure that tires tpms sensor isn't lying to me.    My suggestion is either buy a tool that you know will work to adjust the system or start out by getting the tire shop you bought your tires from to reset your truck and if after that you still want a unit to do it yourself, get one at that point.

      Here is an image of a quick Google search about these tires on my truck and it's exactly same psi recommendation the Toyo tires company gave me!    I'm not looking for anyone else recommended psi or anything, I'm just looking to see if anyone knew a way to get rid of the factory low psi warning light, because I'm not running high psi and ruining my tires when I'm not towing!
