Calif.'s Stupid Front Plate Bracket Repair Question?

those of you who live in California know all to well about the front license plate bracket that comes with your rado's.........my NBS '07 has one too, but it comes off easily enough, but you end up with 4 holes in the lower bumper skirt.

 

any of you got any ideas on how to repair the holes?

 

i'm thinking of using a heat gun and just kinda mashing the vinyl back into place, but i would sure like to hear from anyone who has any ideas on this matter.

My experience with a heat gun is that would be a huge disaster.

 

I'd by a new valance or live with the holes.

Yeah...Melting plastic and getting it to do what you want is about as easy as herding cats.

 

Go down to AutoZone and grab some black rubber plugs.

 

Or order a whole new valance.

you guys are right........i can see the heat gun making a huge mess out of it.

the plugs wull work...........where can i order a valance though?

When I took off the plate bracket, I just took a sharp wood chisel and carefully shaved off the plastic that was sticking up above the hole then I just shot a little bit of black silicone to fill the holes. If you ever need to put the bracket back on just drill through the silicone. It can find the areas because I know where to look, but the silicone will do a pretty good job of hiding the holes.
