Removing The Bed To Work On Underneigh

I've got a 99 Silverado 2wd, and the rust is absolutly phenominal.

 

Before it goes too far, i want to get under the bed and start working on it. Has anyone ever removed the actual bed off a 99 Silverado Shortbed?

 

It looks like its just a few bolts (8 or so) and it comes off.

all you have to do is.

1. remove 3 bolts in side gas filler door of the file pipe

2. remove ground strap under bed at gas filler neck

3. disconnect wire connector at rear of bed for the tail lights.

4. remove 6 or 8 bolts from bed

5. pick up bed and remove

Eight bolts the wiring to the taillights unhook the gas filler flange and get 4 of your friends to lift it off. Piece of cake.

d**n, I did it with just my self and another guy.That was on an 8ft bed too, pulling all kids of muscles.

 

I guess I need to make more friends.
