2000 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab (3dr) shortbox 2WD LS

Charcoal over silver two-tone paint, alloy wheels

5.3l V-8, 341K miles 14K hours (well broken in! )

3.73 Limited Slip, trailer package

recent brakes, recent u-joints & driveshafts balanced

new fuel pump & filter (340K)

new tires (255-75R16 - nokian-vatiiva M+S)

cooling system flushed (340K)

rear diff cover replaced & fluid changed (275K or so)

trans filter changed at 150K, fluid last changed at 275k

front wheel bearing/hubs replaced at 225K

new (recent) down-pipes & cats, still has original muffler & rear pipes (ran over deer carcass on fwy & busted cat-side flange at manifold)

upgraded alternator (130A i think, from snow plow pkg)

will need a little TLC, but runs and drives good now. If I needed to, I'd trust it cross-country (just wouldn't want to pay for gas )

I'll also throw in a 1992 Mercury Capri convertible. 1.6l 5spd.

It has stopped running and the only thing I can figure is the computer got fried when someone tried to jump start it. It cranks, has fuel pressure to the rail, and will run on wd-40 or starting fluid. top does not leak.

I just have no time for more projects. If you want to buy this separately, I'll take $300/OBO.

If you don't mind me asking (and this conversation will bump your thread a few times as well ;) ), how long did your factory brake pads last you?

Longest I've heard was around 130k...But everybody I know had gotten rid of their truck before changing them.

I find this AMAZING.

My SS is already well into it's second set at just over 20k miles.

Wingnut,

the first set, except the rear which I had to change at around 30K due to a sticking rear caliper, lasted about 100K each. The only reason I had to change the 2nd full set was that the rotors in front had started to warp a little. I drive about 60K a year, with a LOT of highway miles, so that could account for the high mileage on mine. I tend to engine brake (not necessarily downshift) alot when on the freeway, only using the brakes if absolutley necessary.

Holy sh*t thats a lot of miles!!! I guess cold start knocks dont do anything to them after all. If I lived closer id prb bag that up, thats a great deal for a 2000. Michigan is a far ride from pa lol.

No 99, the truck has had the cold knocks since I can remember. I usually always started it and let it run for a couple of minutes while I loaded my gear before taking off. I tried not to take off on a cold engine if I could help it.

I'd offer to deliver it (it's only 1.5-2 tanks of gas-11 hrs), but then I'd need a way to get home. I'll check and see if anybody is selling a bike nearby I could ride back? (or if I could figure out the charging problem of my bike and you had a place to unload, I could ride it)

The pads on Fred were still original (and plenty thick) at 90K+. Are they still going strong?

After looking back at my post I don't know where i pulled that number from. I currently have 125892 miles on my truck. I'll be changing the pads and rotors this winter so I won't make it to 130k.
