kdogg Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Yesterday I installed my 2.5" leveling kit from Auto Spring Kits. It took four hours, and I learned that it's much easier to install one side at a time. That would have saved and hour! The bolts on the spacers are shorter so the factory nuts won't fit. I had to put the nuts that came in kit there instead and the factory nuts on were the strut attaches to the sp acer. It looks great from the inside and outside! Before,
Blown03 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Wow, that does look great. I ordered and have the same exact leveling kit sitting right here, my buddies installing mine on tuesday. Can't wait!! PS. What wheels and tires are those? they look great
Gregg1LE Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 It really makes a differnce, but having a gorgeous truck to start really helps. I plan on doing that at the same time when I upgrade to 20" wheels (donations appreciated ! ). Great job!
dannyg2006 Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Looks bad a@#! I was thinking of buying a 2" kit but that looks a hell of a lot better. Have you taken measurements after the lift to see if the front and back are the same?
Bobslob Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Thats a nice looking truck you got there, what do you think of the power of the 4.8 with those big wheels?

Have you taken measurements after the lift to see if the front and back are the same? Thankyou , I measured from to top of the tires up to the finders and the front seems to be 1/8 inch higher. I don't know if that makes it level or not. Measuring at the front and the back of the Nerf Bars the front is 1/16 higher.

The bolts on the spacers are too short for the factory nuts so the two sets should be switched before installing.
TheColter Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Definately looks good man. I'll be doing the leveling kit sometime soon.
tx1500nbs07 Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I ordered the same kit and should get it tomorrow. What tools (and sizes) did you need? I'm hoping to be able to install it this week after work sometime.
Z71Adrenaline Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 If you don't mind me asking, what does a kit like that run pricewise? I'll be selling mine for an 08 ext cab Z71 4x4 in the spring. I've got the t-bars cranked on this one but I think I'd rather go with the kit next time to avoid alignment issues. Thanks!
tx1500nbs07 Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Cost something like 85$ shipped. You can order them from e-bay or call them directly and order by phone. http://www.autospringcorp.com/ AFAIK you still need an alignment when you install coil spacers on the NNBS.
Z71Adrenaline Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Regarding the alignment, i figured that you would still need one. I've had some reoccuring issues with my alignment from my torsion bars, that's what I was talking about. Thanks for the info!

It's not exactly a coil spacer, it's more of a strut extender. It doesn't look like this leveling kit is listed on that site so just call the number and ask for the 2.5" leveling kit for you truck. That's how I did it. I got it in less than two days.
tx1500nbs07 Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Did you have any trouble getting an alignment done afterwards? Is driving without one for a day or two going to destroy the tires? Also what's a reasonable price for a front-end alignment on a GMT 900?

Also what's a reasonable price for a front-end alignment on a GMT 900? The guy that I ordered the kit from said to drive it for a couple of days to let things settle then get an alignment done. Also supposed to adjust the head lights too. I'm taking mine to the dealer tommorow for the recal and asked them to check the alignment too. I just forgot to tell them what I did. If the dealer charges you for it they said it would be about $85 bucks.
