Wheel Spacers For 2500

my front tires rub when turning sharply, i have 12.50's on the truck. am looking into wheel spacers to give me more clearance, maybe 1.25's. the truck is eight lug. anyone have any experience, good or bad, with spacers, or brands of spacers, would like to hear it. thanks

Sorry, havent used them - but Im interested as well. I'd like to install them on the back wheels to bring the width closer to the front since I have a lift kit installed. I couldnt see how an inch or so would drastically change things but I really have no idea.

Wheel spacers would push the rim and tire out and make it rub worse on turns. That is why you want less offset to avoid rubbing on stock height trucks. A spacer gives you more offset. This is why stock rims aren't pushed out as far as aftermarkets.

There's a old man drag racer named Fred in Southern California who specializes in precision fabricated wheel spacers and adapters. My son and I had him make a set a few months ago for his fun/prodject car and they are perfect. They aren't cheap, but affordable for what you get. They fit right out of the box and are made of good materials. I recommend him as many others on RX7club.com do. Just be sure you understand his pricing, most prices are for two. He usually responds quickly and takes most forms of payment. Make sure you have time to talk when you email/call him, he's an old man with plenty of glory days under his belt and likes to reminiss.

I tend to agree with Scyry-the wider the wheel the more rubbing you tend to get. It seems the farther they stick out, the more it throws off the factory geometry, which is what all the parts that rub are planned for.

 

I put 8.5 inch wheels on my 03 with 285's, and they rubbed, however, they do not rub with the factory wheels. Of course I could be wrong in your particular case, but that's my .02

thanks for all the .02$ that's why i like this site. thanks haulin, i will check him out. scyry, the wheels are rubbing on the inside, i have plenty of clearance outside. seems like spacers would move the tire away from the contact. thanks again.

Ahh, so you are contacting the backside of the rim to the control arms? If so, that makes sense. Just don't go too far, then you will be hitting the outside of the tire to the fender well in places.
