I have a victory Red 2008 LTZ silverado and the thing is covered with orange peel the tail gate ,doors and cab are really bad how much orange peel does GM allow. this is so bad you can feel the bumps with your fingers I dont think I sould have to pay to have it fixed hell its a new truck

They can wet sand and buff it but beware!

A certain amount of orange peel can be expected in production paint. My new Sierra looks pretty good... but it does have some peel. I'd be afraid to have anybody at a dealership body shop "jack with it" for fear of getting something worse back! I don't have anything against dealers but I can't stand the thought of them having to do repaint work on my new vehicle.

Why can't GM get even close to the quality of paint finish on my 06 Honda Accord? It looks like it came out of a custom shop with glass like finish and everything fits together nicely. We have a long way to go here...

For the record I do love my truck.

Why did you buy it?

I bought mine because the imports can't build a decent real truck and I believe that GM does... plus I've always driven Chevy/GMC trucks. What's a little orange peel among friends anyway?

Should have bought a 05-07 "Classic" with I think are better disk/drums for light duty truck work and a 5 Speed. I avoid the first few years like the plague of a new model since the fiasco of my parents 2000 Monte Carlo And 2000 Impala. Sound like expensive work for just paint in the next few years. Chemical incompatibility of the different paint layers? My is a Fire red GMC and see no problems with my paint except for paint scratches caused by a bike.

My TBSS has it pretty bad too.

So did the brand new Corvette I was looking at the other day.

They're all like that.

mine isn't perfect, but it's got a mirror gloss unlike some finishes (accept my previous Honda's)

i've seen.................i'm very happy with it.

a word of warning though for anyone considering a cut and polish, i had a scratch on my tailgate that i was sure would come out with a little compound by hand..........hardee har har, burned right through the clear coat............had to have the gate repainted.

i wish it had the water base finishes like the european's have mastered like that used on my wife's Jaguar...........smooth as a babies butt, and it doesn't get spider webbed nearly as easy as GM's soft paint.

Since we can't see it I'm not sure how bad it is.

On many European cars the paint has a light orange peel like stuckture in the BACK, around the licence plate.

Per manufaturer. On purpose.

It supposed to reduce reflection back to the following vehicle while driving at night.

It might be possible that GM is starting with that as well.

But this is just wild speculation.

Anyway, since others are doing it on purpose, it it might make it easier for you to live with the issue if you don't want to spend extra money.
