Trans Slipping?

Today I was at a stop light and took off, slow, I don't get on it at all, and the truck slipped like 3 times in a row before hooking up. I had the trans flushed at 69,000 and is now at 70,000, I really don't think that would do it. It was also wet, so maybe my tires slipped, I really don't know. Just kinda concerned I guess. It worked fine the rest of the day however, maybe I am getting worked up over nothing.

By the way, it is a 2002 Silverado with the 4 speed auto, if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for any info!

Check if its actually full of fluid first and , dump in this stuff called SLICK 50 transmission treatment if it does it again.

 

I put it in a slipping transmission twice before and it does help.

Check to see if the fluid is full as mentioned above, but also check the color and smell of the fluid. If the fluid is black and has a burnt smell to it than your trans is done.

Mine shifts pretty hard on the 1-2, 2-3 upshifts especially when letting off the gas. Downshifts are still pretty seamless considering I had my wait4me firm up the shifts to help with the sloppiness. I'm sure the tranny is on borrowed time.

Just replaced mine this weekend. cost me about 700$ but i pulled and put it back myself. i was at 197,xxx. had the hard 1-2 shift with any kind of trailer behind it, or on long trips. eventually it just wouldnt go anymore and i took it in before i broke any "hard parts", which makes it much more expensive. hope it was the wet streets, if not, its not too big a deal, i guess.

I see you guys think my trans is on the way out. It only done it yesterday, and I was at a light and when I took off it went uh, uh, uh, then it hooked up and worked fine the rest of the time. I also let the truck sit for 2-3 days as I am laid off and we didn't need it. I find it hard to beleive that I need a new trans at 70,000 and I just did what every dealer says and even the manual and that is a total flush. I never towed anything or beat on it. Just nice easy driving. Its my car really. I'll check the oil and see if it does anything again, but if I need a trans already I should have just bought a Dodge.

Update: I just checked the fluid and it looks nice and red and does not smell burn't and looks good. It "slipped" right at take off not at 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift. It actually shifts quite nicely, especially after the flush, it got almost unoticable shifts. Like I said it was wet and I was on a white line in the road and I noticed a couple of other people kind of spin when they were on the white lines. I am going to drive it today and see what happens, if it don't do it then maybe it was a glich or something.

I am betting your tires slipped. Wet roads, especially on the paint, will do that very easily.

Mine has done the same thing a few times...I will go for months with no problems, then it will just do it out of the blue.

Typically if a trans is going out it starts to slip in the upper gear ranges. There is enough torque multiplication in the lower gears that if you felt it slip for the first time there, then you have had a catastrophic failure of some kind. Since it was a one time deal, I don't believe that was the case. I believe you just spun the tires. There may have been some oil on the road from another stopped vehicle in addition to the wet pavement. Either way, I don't think you have a problem.

I know for a fact that mine has done it at least twice on dry roads...as for the oil, I can't say for sure that none was on the road.

ive felt mine not grab for a second right off the line.i bought it with 100,000 miles and i changed the fluid.and i felt it slip slightly a few times.im up to 140,000 and i havent felt it do that in a long time.

Update: I ran it today for a while and didn't notice anything. I think it was like the one guy said an out of the blue kind of thing. I checked the fluid and it is a little above full but I would rather have it full than low. It smells good, the dealer I took it to flushed it with the "Wynns" stuff and it smells funny and they said it has stuff in it to make it smell weird I guess. Either way I know the trans acts a lot better than before. I w2ill have to agree with all of you guys on the Techron fuel injector cleaner, that s**t is AWESOME. My truck kind of had a little rough idle and it straightend it right out!! Well worth the money. Well, thanks to all for your posts and comments I greatly appreciate it.
