Here's some of the photos my wife took on the ATV trip Friday.  As usual I can't pass up a waterhole:

Got the back high-centered and buried the front-end.  I was just getting ready to fish for the winch cable when a guy on a Rancher came up behind me and offered to tow me out.  Another guy told me he tried it last fall and got his quad buried here so bad all you could see were the handlebars!  So I'm glad I got stuck close to the edge :D .

Here's me after getting unstuck.  Notice the waterline!

My wife on her Recon:

Another one from last year-just to prove that I don't ALWAYS get stuck! :(

Looks like great fun!  I see you're on a slack dump in one of those shots (surprise, surprise, right! ).

I miss the mountains too - pretty flat in MI.  Guess I'm a *gulp* flatlander now!  But always a mountaineer in my heart.   :D

I've said it before, I'll say it again....I miss my ATV!!!

I guess it's a good thing anyway as the only way I can ride it is if I drive 6 hours away from Chicago.

Seeing your front end buried brings back memories.  :D

Thanks for the comments, guys.  Most of the trail system is built on and around coal mine sites and slag dumps are common around here and make nice hill climbs!!  Here's a link to the website:

Hatfield-McCoy Trail Systems

They have eventual plans to create over 2000 miles of trails in WV, VA and KY for use by ATVs, dirtbikes, hikers, horses, bicycles and eventually 4x4 vehicles!.  There's plenty of campsites, hotels, restaurants and shops that have popped up near the three current trailheads.  Well worth the trip if you like to trailride! :(

BTW-Thanks Jon for the new sig banner! :D

Good pics, I like the Grizzly.

I get stuck almost every time I go out.  It's not because of the 4 wheeler I have--it is because i go into places i know i won't get through.

It is fun anyway--I love getting stuck(if it comes out easy), my friends and i have as much fun playing in the mud and getting unstuck as we do on the 4 wheelers.

When I got my 4 wheeler stuck yesterday I pulled my hand winch out of my box.  I was in a muddy creak, and before i knew it, the hook fell off.  I felt around in the ice cold water until i found the hook, but i never found the bolt to put it back on with.  I luckily had an axe to cut the log that i was high centered on.  After a lot of rocking and pushing, I was able to get out.
