Question, I want to level the front of my new NBS. What is the best product to do this?? And the BIG question... will doing this affect my warranty?

Check out the off road sections of chevyfullsize and gmfullsize. There are a good amount of people who have tried the different kits offered. Good picts and instructions as well!

Ok, hold on a minute. You had the dealer install your kit, and that does not void your warranty?

 

 

How about a dealer installed lift? (I know this was discussed somewhat in a post by blown03) Does a dealer installed lift (besides costing an arm and a leg) allow you to maintain your warranty? Do they have a factory approved, or dealer approved kit??

 

I guess I have always wondered about a factory approved kit and having it installed during time of production, anyone else heard/ done this?

On a dealer installed lift or leveling kit only that dealer will honer the warranty and will be hard to find one that will do it. Yes kits like these will void the warrenty only if the kit is the cause of the problem say you blow a CV joint, axle, steering componets or anything drive line related. Now if you take your truck in for a lets say bad window seal they will fix it under warrenty but if the lift is noticed it will be noted in there computer system and will be on the reciept you recieve when picking up your truck "I have seen this" I have a few friends that work for the service dept at our local dealership and if they are caught honering a claim that is suppose to out of warrenty due to vehicle modifcation they can be penalized and ordered to pay GM the money it would have cost to have the vehicle repaired. So thats why some dealers are tight on warrenty claims.

Some risk and liability must be accepted any time you modify your vehicle.

 

Legally, unless you alter factory components in a way that makes them unsafe or prone to failure, the warranty will remain in effect. However, It is reasonable to assume that your front suspension would be "questionable" from a warranty standpoint if you add a spacer to the top of it for levelling purposes. You are altering an original design. I guess it depends on how much you need a safety blanket to live life.

 

If anybody gets the "VOIDED WARRANTY" line of from a dealer for adding aftermarket items, they need to contact a regional warranty representative for clarification. Just because "Joe Blow" on a dealership service drive says you have no warranty... doesn't make it so. Quality of employees varies at a dealership just as it does wherever you work.

 

I know some exceptional dealership people and I've known a few that were pure uninformed jerks.

BTW

 

I lowered the rear of mine 2" with shackles to level it out and it rides better than ever. New trucks sit up so high that lowering the rear a little instead of raising the front is a good alternative unless you are trying to go with really large tires or intend to carry huge payloads. Might be worth considering. Also, If you are concerned about warranty, there is little chance that the shackles will raise any eyebrows on the service drive.
